We've seen on a couple of occasions that Nortje has a lot of fight in him and takes his batting seriously but 20 minutes feels like a long time for a nightwatchman to bat. Then again, Nortje may have just been promoted.

A wonderful snaffle from Stokes but Mark Wood comes back and strikes again. He's bowled beautifully, not just his pace but the angles too.

There's no doubt about that. The edge has gone straight into Ben Stokes' hands. England have been exceptional today.

Bavuma is looking sorrowful. The umpires are just making sure this has carried.

It looks like Mark Wood has another as Temba Bavuma edges to second slip. Ben Stokes celebrates straight away low down but Temba Bavuma hangs around. The umpires are going to check it carried. The soft signal is out.

England's team unity has stood out for me. They've all dug in, contributed along the way and batted deep. The team spirit has been excellent and they look like they are enjoying their cricket, playing full of confidence.

With the sun now back out it's definite BBQ weather. Long shadows, bright sunshine and still warm enough. Joe Root continues to rotate his quicks as Ben Stokes returns with a maiden.

The lights are on and even though the sky is blue there might be problems with the light as we get closer to 16:30 GMT. Bavuma is hardly playing a shot in anger.

5 January 2016. This was one of my favourite cricket moments. I was standing next to Makhaya Ntini at Centurion Park when Temba Bavuma became the first black cricketer to make a Test century for South Africa. It felt like a huge moment for cricket in the country. Most observers believed it would be the first of many hundreds, but four years on it remains his only three-figure score.

You get a huge sense here at the Wanderers that people are desperate to see him succeed. He’s a wonderful player to watch as well as being an inspiration.

The rain from this morning feels an awful long time ago. Partly because a lot has happened since but also because it's is a lovely evening now. Most of the ground is bathed in sunshine with the biggest stand casting a shadow across the other areas.

Bavuma is digging in for the close but there are still 35 minutes to go.

England have been outstanding. They've given South Africa hardly anything at all. They've bowled brilliantly accurately to a confused South African team.

Hopefully the rain has gone now for this Test match, according to the forecast anyway, so no more delayed starts.
