Matt makes a very good point. Joe Denly has good sun cream game too.

Stuart Broad returns to the attack after drinks but is flicked to the boundary by Quinton de Kock.

Not enough has been said about Ollie Pope's sunscreen game... where does it rank against the all time sunscreen greats of the game (Symonds, Hussey etc.)?

Chris Woakes is back for a second spell after his miserly six overs for seven runs earlier. Every now and again Chris Woakes seems to fall down England's pecking order but when he returns he never lets them down.

He first over back is another maiden.

There are still 75 minutes to go in this session. It's time for a drink.

Du Plessis 3, De Kock 12

I bet it's easy to get frustrated by Quinton de Kock as a South Africa fan. He gets out in some silly ways but he can make batting look so, so simple at times. He cuts Curran late through the gully for his second four of this innings.

We need to find a way of bringing grass banks to grounds in England. I appreciate there'd be a problem with them turning into mud baths at times but can we not build some astroturf ones?

There's a chant going around the ground from the home fans over on the hill. It gets a few notches louder when Quinton de Kock drives Stokes for four.

Wonderful atmosphere on the grass bank at The Wanderers, which is packed with spectators enjoying the Saturday afternoon sunshine. Plenty of games of cricket are being played by the youngsters - and a wonderful moment when they all surrounded a camera trying to get on TV.

There's not a lot of conversation going on the South Africa dressing room. They have looked like a football team nailed on to be relegated in this innings. They competed for a little while, looked OK but then do stupid things and the hope starts to drain away.

Fin Tungate: That is the worst shot I've ever seen in a Test from Dean Elgar.

Robert Hinchcliffe: In the match circumstances that Elgar shot is probably worst of the series, shocking dismissal.

It's not the greatest delivery Stokes has ever bowled. He is a bit surprised he has the wicket but it's the extra bounce he finds. It was a tame shot by Elgar but Stokes makes things happen.

    Elgar c Woakes b Stokes 26 (SA 44-3)

Dean Elgar this won't make it to the close. This goes down as one of the tamest dismissals I have seen in a long, long time and it sums up the state of South Africa right now.

It's a long hop from Ben Stokes and Elgar just bunts it straight to backward point. A dreadful, dreadful shot.

England are barely celebrating wickets. Mark Boucher shakes his head in the dressing room.

Ben Stokes worked with a sports psychologist on ways to deal with the frustration of being dismissed.

He would get into the dressing room and start packing his kit bag. Make it very tidy and organised.

If Dean Elgar makes it to the close unbeaten I'd be heading straight to the local corner shop to stick tonight's lottery numbers on if I was him. Once again he plays and misses.

South Africa are looking like a very muddled team by the back-end of this series. Their tactics with the bat have not looked right.

Captain Faf du Plessis, who has not been in any sort of form for a while, will now face his first ball.

    Elgar 26, Du Plessis 0

Stokes was celebrating that catch like a man who still had those drops from the last match on his mind. He looked relieved.

He's back bowling now and Elgar again edges him through a gap behind the stumps. Stokes isn't getting a lot of luck here.
