In case you'd forgotten, Joe Root is still there. He adds a couple more singles to his name in that Paterson over. As does Curran.

Gary Timms: I'm confused. Why would we not stick with Buttler? A dodgy spell of form, sure, but his upside offers so much. I will certainly continue to support him.
Eng lead by 389 runs
They've both got the height, Rachel, I'll give you that.
Anich Nortje to Sam Curran and the result is two boundaries in a row for the 21-year-old, the first far more convincing than the second.
A lovely cover drive, on the up, then a thick edge where third slip would have been.

We shouldn't underestimate how talented Jos Buttler is. Quite often he's batting with the tail or looking to get on with it. Looking for him to average 40-plus is unrealistic.
England send Sam Curran in at eight, ahead of Chris Woakes again. And he slices Dane Paterson down to point for a single to get off the mark.
We've still got an hour or so to go, with play due to end at 16:00 GMT.

It was a positive shot - he was looking to get on with it - but his feet were in cement.

Is Jos Buttler's Test career over?
Buttler c De Kock b Nortje 8 (Eng 160-6)
Buttler's series (and perhaps Test career) is over. He is looking to score runs and build on that lead but, true to a man out of form, his feet stay still. A quick and back of a length Nortje delivery outside off stump is nicked behind to De Kock.
Will England give him another chance in the five-day game?
I hope you don't wear glasses, Will.

That was like a footballer - I'm going to dive on the floor because I've been hit on the inside thigh.
Eng lead by 375 runs
Amazing! That caption is outstanding. And the little girl crying, what's that about?
Nortje to Root and the England captain with an inside edge straight into the inner thigh. That looked painful. In fact, it's floored Root for a good five seconds. But he beats the referee's count and is back on his feet.

Geoff Dixon: Ben Stokes signing for Durham.
Back to cricketers in paintings, there's a gem coming up...

Dave: When to declare? I shouldn't worry too much about that now.
And Buttler is struck on the pads first ball - a huge appeal from South Africa. But he survives. It was high - and Du Plessis thinks so too as he decides against the review.
Buttler responds with a back-foot punch for four. More of those, Jos, and you'll be on that plane to Sri Lanka.

I wonder how Jos Buttler will play. There's been a lot of talk about his immediate future.
In comes Jos Buttler, a man under pressure.
