Pope c De Kock b Nortje 11 (Eng 150-5)
Nortje was fine to continue and good job for South Africa that he was. He cramps Pope for room, who is looking to cut it down to third man, but can only edge into the gloves of De Kock. It was too close to cut.
That's the South African wicketkeeper's 200th Test dismissal.

Mike Bell: Donatello's David from the Renaissance. Or Nasser Hussain? We should be told.
Root 26, Pope 7
Anrich Nortje is back into the attack.
Ollie Pope, takes a little step back, a stride forward, and punches it through mid-on for a four. You'll struggle to find a better timed shot than that all match. It was nothing more than a forward defensive. Class.
Pope looks to then cut Nortje and edges just short of first slip.
The South African seamer completes his over but it looks as if he's hobbling a bit. He has a word with Faf Du Plessis. Not what South Africa need.

Dermot Trellis: Mike Gatting?
The South Africa attack has been hindered with Vernon Philander off the field, but Beuran Hendricks has bowled pretty tidily this innings.
After that quick-scoring cameo by Stokes, it's calmed down again with just a single from Pretorius' over.

England fans will be gutted to see the back of Stokes but thrilled to see the arrival of Ollie Pope.
The new England wonderboy is off the mark with an elegant pull for a single.

Ben Stokes hasn't been accused of looking like Elton John, George Ezra or any other singers. Nothing to report.

It's back in the melting pot again. I like Hendricks. I think he's got something about him.
Stokes c Van Der Dussen b Hendricks 28
Stokes has had his fun but it didn't last as long as he would have wanted.
He goes for the big swing through mid-off but can only nick Hendricks to Van Dussen at first slip, who takes a fine catch.
Stokes sprints through the tunnel and back into the dressing rooms.

Stokes has shown intent from the start. He can take this game away so fast. There is a lot of cricket left tonight. Might England contemplate having a bowl tonight?
Oh come on, that IS Alastair Cook, surely?

JethroCat: Pablo Picasso circa 1900 is actually Alastair Cook
Let's not be comparing Stokes to anyone after what's happened these past few days.
Anyway, I'd say it is more of a resemblance to Boris Becker
A full toss to Root from Pretorius, a complete gimme. Easiest four he'll ever score as he clips it square of the wicket.
With De Kock up to the stumps, Stokes attempts a ramp shot (and nearly takes the 'keeper out as he does) and the ball races through for four byes.
Big over this, Stokes finishes by cutting to backward point for yet another boundary.
13 from it.

Tom Broughton: Ben Stokes?

Bairstow is in the firing line with these paintings!
Stokes isn't here to hang around too much. Anything full and he's after it, this time punching Hendricks through to the mid-on boundary for four.
The seamer goes in short and Stokes bends backwards, almost doing the crab, and manages to get out of the way.

Root 16, Stokes 18
Harsh on Tuffers there? Or, harsh on The Scream? You decide.
Dwaine Pretorius to Ben Stokes. Four. If you bowl full length on Stokes' pads, he's going to dispatch you to the boundary.
To be fair to Pretorius, he then bowls a decent enough delivery on the off stump and Stokes still manages to drag it through mid-wicket for another four.
He's has overtaken Root.
