They are rolling the covers off. It is brighter but we won't get play for another 20 minutes.
I've got some news... Play to restart at 15:30 BST

It does look a lot brighter. The lights are on. There are a lot of rain clouds around. Hopefully we will be able to get out there at some stage soon.
I wonder how Brent would cope with working from home? You can just imagine the Zoom call shenanigans.

I wish Burns would get rid of the goatee beard. I have visions of David Brent under that England helmet and an impromptu dance coming after a boundary.

The most tired I have been as an opening batter is when it does rain. Even when you aren't playing you are thinking 'when are we going to start', 'am I getting on?'.
You are always on the edge. You just can't switch off.
'Beautiful start' - Gabriel bowls Sibley
The full covers are on. This will undoubtedly be a longer delay than the last one.
This is the best I can offer you for the time being ... the first international wicket to fall this summer...

The rain is getting slightly heavier. These are the days where it is tough work for the groundstaff.
Eng 3-1
Sigh. Off they go again.

How close was that to the top of off?! It has jagged back significantly.
Joe Denly living on the edge here!
Firstly, the England number three looks to swat one over mid-on and completely mistimes a pull shot, the ball falling short of the fielder.
And then a beauty from Gabriel ... another one which nips back in and nearly takes the off stump. That really did move off the turf,

This is the third time in five home Tests England have been 0-1. It happened twice against Australia last year - at Lord's and Old Trafford.
Burns clips off his legs, waits for the ball to roll past a diving backward point before completing the single. England score their second run of the innings.
Right, we shall try again as players head back out to the middle.
It will be wicket-taker Shannon Gabriel to continue. He was only a reserve originally before being drafted into the squad.
Burns is on strike.

It is always much harder for the batting side in this situation when you are on and off. You always feel like you are never quite 'in'.
Slightly frustrating we have to wait 10 minutes for play to restart? Why not just get them out right now?
Maybe that's just me being too impatient, having been starved of cricket all summer.

If there is no further rain we will resume at 14:45 BST.
