It is not the easiest of wickets to bat on.

    Stokes 32, Buttler 17

I just watched that dropped catch again - it was so simple.

Gabriel is reaching speeds of 90mph but doesn't look overly threatening, although he does get one to jag back and hit Buttler high on the back leg.

England are keeping that scoreboard ticking along. Two from the over.

Each time I turn the radio commentary on Stokes is getting dropped... am I good or bad luck? Should I turn the radio off and pray for a big partnership?

Straight forward. It was a good bit of bowling, teasing Stokes outside off stump. It wasn't flying like a rocket.

You never want to show your disappointment but a few hands went onto heads there.

You don't drop Ben Stokes once. You DEFINITELY don't drop Ben Stokes twice. The England captain drives straight to Shamarh Brooks at extra cover. It didn't go quickly. It was an easy grab. West Indies miss out again.

    How costly will that be?

That line - when it is a bit straighter - suits Buttler's back-foot punch. Beautiful shot. If you are going to bowl that get it a bit wider. Get him fishing a bit.

    Stokes 26, Buttler 17

Yesterday, West Indies could have been Dancing in the Rain. Today, they're Singing in the Slips.

Terrific shot by Buttler. No aggression needed. On his toes, he drives Gabriel through cover for a perfectly timed four.

Gabriel has been a bit wayward since the lunch break.

The partnership is now worth 32.

There was someone singing in the slips this morning. I think it was John Campbell.

    Roach 13-6-14-0

Kemar Roach has bowled beautifully so far in this match, going for just 14 runs from his 13 overs.

Another tight line, cramping the batsmen for room but Stokes shoulders his arms and allows it to go by. A good leave.

    Maiden over.

I love the use of the word "investigated" there, Stephan.

Gabriel offers far too much width, ball on the up, and Stokes dispatches it through point for four.

And then Buttler has go. Again, there to be hit and the England vice-captain rocks back and gives it a good old slap square of the wicket.

    Poor over.

On the concourse, I'm afraid the Shane Warne Bar has the shutters down. In the hotel there are a couple, though I've only investigated them in the evening. Is it acceptable to try for a cheeky one now and pass it off as research?

    Further questions welcome.

Here we go. West Indies star man Shannon Gabriel has the ball in hand. England captain Ben Stokes on strike.

I can understand if England think the pitch is dry that is why they chose to bat first but we have had two solid days of overcast skies.

England must be thinking if the sun comes out it will be up and down but that is a long way off at 106-5.

We haven't been able to get out and see the pitch. Maybe there is a plan we don't know about.

Find it difficult to fathom why Jonny Bairstow with over 4,000 Test runs isn't playing and we have average County Championship players selected instead.

So when Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler do return to the middle, they may very well have to deal with Shannon Gabriel first up.

The West Indies paceman has been impressive...

The bad news is we won't be starting on time after lunch. The good news is that the big covers aren't on. So fingers crossed the players will be out sooner rather than later.
