Jimmy Anderson drags himself out to the middle fully protected and with his big sleeveless jumper on. He doesn't look thrilled and I can't blame him with Shannon Gabriel boosted by his fourth wicket of the innings.

Did this thrilling shot from Archer tease Wood into trying something similar?

I think Wood will be disappointed. He banged the bat in frustration. He thought it was going to be short, he was trying to uppercut it. He was looking settled out there.

That's the difference between a lower-order guy and someone who bats at the top. But Wood can bat.

Wood didn't need to do that. He's a better player than someone who needs to pre-meditate, back off and try a cut that isn't on.

    Hmmm. A bit silly, this.

Mark Wood wants a bit of the action.

Having seen Archer slap Holder away, Wood tries to step away and slash Gabriel behind square. All he manages to do is snick behind and England are down to their final wicket.

It's time to move on, for me. For all of the reasons Steph gives.

A thought on the Denly debate. It's possible to think that it was right for Denly to have played this game, but also he should now be moved on.

Even without the big scores, he has provided solidity to an England top order that badly needed it, and the team benefited as a result.

But selection is also about timing, and England have to ride the wave of Crawley's success. Get it right, and he could have 20 Tests by the time the Ashes roll around.

That came out of nowhere. If it went wrong we'd have been slating Archer but I still love to see it.

The umpires miss another no-ball at the end of the over when Holder bowls a full toss at Mark Wood's belly button.

He's danced down the wicket, premeditated. That was a lovely swing of the bat, he kept his eyes on the ball.

    JOFRA!

Jason Holder is on, a bowler with the precision of a heart surgeon. Second ball Archer charges down the pitch and hammers it for four.

    I love him.

Jason Holder has had enough of this flat start from West Indies.

He brings himself on after just four overs.

How has that not been called? That's a huge no-ball. A good four or five inches over. You do hope the third umpire is in the ear now and telling umpire Richard Illingworth out there that it was a big no-ball.

Gabriel follows the poor delivery with some of that fire Aggers was asking for. A bouncer that hits Wood on the upper arm.

The TV cameras show Gabriel bowling a massive no-ball that hasn't been called. If England lose by one run...

Played club cricket yesterday at Mersea Island, Essex. Graham Pryke did a great job making sure we all kept socially distanced and safe and a great game of cricket was played. Mersea Red Squirrels (84-7) were defeated by the Badgers (104-7) after George Shephard (15 off 33) was caught at deep square off Amber with her third ever delivery- having only held a cricket ball two minutes prior. Lots of teenagers getting back into cricket. Great fun and the crowd were immersed in the tension. Come on England and great to be back to club cricket.

West Indies are taking a while to get into their groove and, you never know, it could cost them. Gabriel - still looking stiff - throws the ball down the leg side and despite getting a hand there wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich can't prevent four byes.

    England's lead stretches over 180.

I'd like to see a bit of aggression from the West Indies. Come on Shannon, let's have a little bit of chin music and fire it up a little bit.

I'm going to say it, and don't hate me. Jofra Archer is defending solidly.

"Caaaaatch!". The fielder can't get there.

Jofra Archer gets away with an edgy cut through gully. Four runs.

Michael Douglas: Runs less important than time. Need to keep the wickets intact as long as possible to create time pressure.

Rob Stow: I’m torn between wanting Archer and Wood to put on a 50 partnership and not wanting this to be a wicket where those two can easily put on a 50 partnership! Still think England will sneak it, just.

Shannon Gabriel finds the spot with a good delivery that beats Wood. The England duo, who will have a massive role to play later with the ball, look relaxed. They come together for a chat at the end of the over.
