A miscue but Ben Stokes is unmoved. It hit the helmet.

Kemar Roach fancies this but Shane Dowrich and Jason Holder are having none of it.

It's a well-directed bouncer by Roach and Ben Stokes can't resist taking it on but he doesn't quite time it right and it hits him flush on the helmet. Dowrich scampers to take the catch but nothing doing.

I tell you what, we might actually get the day's 90 overs in by the scheduled close of 6pm if Rakheem Cornwall bowls a fair bit. He rattles through his overs.

A single apiece for Rory Burns and Ben Stokes.

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

I'm staggered that Roston Chase hasn't bowled yet.

We are going to get some more spin but it's Rakheem Cornwall again.

I hadn't noticed it Duncan, until I read that so thanks for that.

I wouldn't worry about Rory Burns being put off, the guy is in his own bubble when he bats.

Duncan Beagley: Is it me or is Roach's shouting while bowling more than a little off-putting for batsmen? Its off-putting for me and I am only trying to eat my sausage roll.

It all feels oh so easy for England after the interval.

The sun is shining, the ball is doing nothing. It's only a matter of a time before we see Roston Chase I imagine...

Honours even at lunch according to Michael Vaughan.

After lunch it's felt like England can really grab this game by the scruff of the neck and take the game away from West Indies in the remaining two sessions.

    Burns 44, Stokes 14

Jason Holder won't be happy with the way he's bowled after lunch.

He leaks another seven runs - as many as he did in his first seven!

    Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

It's slow going for England but I don't think they will mind it right now. They are desperate to get a foothold in the game after being put in.

  12. Eng 77-2published at 31 overs

Another couple added to the total as Rory Burns again drives through the covers. He's looking good after lunch.

Phil Neale, the England team manager, has just walked around the boundary carrying two massive cardboard boxes. It probably isn't this, but I like to think the England team's weekly online delivery has arrived.

Jason Holder is a wonderful cricketer and leader but like Michael Vaughan said in the morning session is he too safe at times?

As an England fan when the deck is pretty flat like this and the weather conditions are favourable to the batting side you can't help but feel pretty comfortable when he's bowling.

Ben Stokes moves into double figures with a thick inside edge behind square on the leg side.

Normally I'd accept your point Ginger Bearded Gooner but Joe Root has been in the bubble for the last 10 days.

He's not doing the night feed!

Ginger Bearded Gooner: Can we please not forget Root had a child two weeks ago. I could barely walk two weeks after my second child, let alone bat for England!

  18. Eng 73-2published at 29 overs

Kemar Roach, who picked up the wicket of Dom Sibley in the first over, will share the bowling duties after lunch.

No looseners from him with just a Ben Stokes single added to the total.

As Aggers says it's absolutely cracking flags at Old Trafford now.

It's the perfect sort of spectator day - not too hot just a lovely, pleasant day to watch Test match cricket.

The ECB have done fantastically to get this series on but cricket without fans is very odd.

Better from Jason Holder as he squares Rory Burns up third ball and the left-hander gets a thick edge but it falls well short of Shai Hope in the fifth/sixth slip position.

Burns punches through the covers for a couple to end the over. It looks like it's getting easier for England.
