  1. 'Archer is ready to play'published at 10:38 British Summer Time 24 July 2020

England captain Joe Root: "The last game worked out well for us so hopefully we can do the same - get a big first innings score and take it from there."

On team selection: "Zak misses out, everyone moves up one. We have balanced the side out as best we can and feel we have a balanced team. The way we set up is very similar. Jofra is ready to play - he's got his smile back and he's got the dressing room behind him."

Asked if Ben Stokes will bowl in this Test: "We'll have to see and monitor it as the game progresses. This is a must-win game for us but we also have to make sure we look after our players."

  2. 'Cornwall is a matchwinner'published at 10:36 British Summer Time 24 July 2020

West Indies captain Jason Holder: "With the overheads conditions and some moisture in the wicket we're going to try and make the most of it. The guys have prepared really well, we had a couple of days off and then got stuck in.

"There is something to play for and I'm sure both teams are hoping to keep of the Wisden trophy."

On just the one change with Rahkeem Cornwall replacing Alzarri Joseph: "It's just horses for causes, we thought in the last Test there was enough for the spinners. We think Rakheem Cornwall is a matchwinner."

  3. Anderson and Archer inpublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 24 July 2020

England make two changes - James Anderson and Jofra Archer come back in for Sam Curran and Zak Crawley. So captain Joe Root will bat at three.

West Indies make one change - 6ft 6in spin bowler Rahkeem Cornwall is in for Alzarri Joseph.

Have you seen Dominic Bess have a bowl this morning? I've been studying it for the last half an hour and I've not seen much of him.

I think Alzarri Joseph will miss out - I saw him holding the tape measure out for Shannon Gabriel.

There is lots of conjecture about the teams but from just standing down here it looks like England have decided to drop a batsman and pick four front-line seamers and a spinner. Chris Woakes is bowling so he looks like he's kept his place.

All eyes on the sky, if not today, then certainly from tomorrow onwards. The weather forecast in Manchester isn't promising and all the overnight chatter in the bubble has been about England’s best way to win this match. Four seamers? Bowl first? Leave out a batsman? Decisions, decisions...

Andy Gould: Interesting selection dilemma for #eng. Possibly eased by injured Stokes - need four seamers, so Broad, Anderson, Woakes and Archer. So either drop Bess, and use Root part time spin, or left field, ask Pope to keep and drop Buttler.

We'll find out soon enough but England face an intriguing decision over which bowlers to select for this decider.

Ben Stokes has an injury that could prevent him from bowling in this Test.

Can James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad and Mark Wood all fit in the same XI or does that make the tail too long?

  15. The final Wisden Trophypublished at 10:21 British Summer Time 24 July 2020

Why is the winner of this series claiming the final Wisden Trophy?

Because it will be replaced for future series by a trophy named after two of cricket's greats, Sir Vivian Richards and Sir Ian Botham.

You can read more about the decision and comments from both Richards and Botham here.

So you know how after June ended, the UK's weather decided to skip ahead to October?

Manchester, as it does with everything, really went for it.

It's been pretty miserable the past few weeks and we saw day three of the second Test abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Sadly as you can see from the forecast for Emirates Old Trafford we could see significant amounts of play lost on Saturday, while Monday and Tuesday aren't looking too clever either.

  17. Welcomepublished at 10:16 British Summer Time 24 July 2020

Hello and welcome to day one of the third and final - and decisive - Test between England and West Indies at Emirates Old Trafford.

After Ben Stokes' stunning exploits helped England level the series with victory here in the second Test, the winner of this match will claim the final Wisden Trophy.

Unfortunately both sides look set to face another opponent in this match - the weather.
