There is an extraordinary dent in the bowl by the seam now. That must've been done by the bat. It's really odd.

  3. WI 19-1published at 8.4 overs

I was just about to say that is better from James Anderson testing the defences of John Campbell but he throws a rank wide half-volley in and the left-hander crashes it to the boundary.

So much so that the seam has been hit out of place and the umpires are going to change the ball.

West Indies have had chances to win this series. They had chance to make sure they drew the last Test at least.

And they had a chance this morning but then there was that 45 minutes when the field spread to Stuart Broad.

I think that period is going to cost them the Test and the series.

They're a developing Test match team but then there's that belief you need to have to win those big periods in Tests.

  5. WI 15-1published at 8 overs

    Good cricket from John Campbell.

In the series throughout he has always looked like he is a boundary or nothing kind of cricketer but he drops one into the covers and sprints through for a quick single.

Stuart Broad has a lot of strapping on his left ankle - one to keep an eye on with a three-Test series against Pakistan following this series pretty much straight away,

With umpires not allowed to hold caps, sweaters etc, we've become quite used to seeing the 12th man run on to collect them, or Rahkeem Cornwall wearing a couple of hats. Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad have another solution; sharing a jumper. When Anderson is bowling, Broad wears it. At the end of the over, Broad gives it to Anderson and Jimmy pulls it on. It's like junior cricket. What happens when they stop bowling?

  7. WI 14-1published at 7 overs

There's a fair bit of movement out there for Jimmy Anderson but I think he'll be disappointed with his line so far.

He's not got Shai Hope and John Campbell - both of whom are under immense pressure - to play at enough balls yet.

That could be down to Stuart Broad bowling to a lot of left-handers, he bowls very well to left-handers.

David Warner got sick of the sight of him last summer - not that he saw him for very long.

The is the fourth time in five innings at this ground that Stuart Broad has got a wicket in his first over.

Dan Nixon: After his cameo with the bat Stuart Broad looks right on it this afternoon. From taking the game away from the Windies with the bat in the last session, he can bury them with the ball in this one... Game on!

  11. WI 12-1published at 6 overs

Shai Hope brings out the big Steve Smith lightsaber-esque leave twice as Stuart Broad's line strays a little bit too far outside off stump.

He gets off the mark with a flick off his hip, just past short leg, and down to fine leg.

That was a straightforward one - you'd expect Ben Stokes to take those.

  13. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 5 overs

    WI 11-1

Wow! You don't see Ben Stokes drop many catches. He will massively disappointed with this too, it's a simple catch.

Jimmy Anderson just arrows one across John Campbell but draws a tentative push and a thick edge goes to Stokes at a nice height and pace. It goes in but it pops out.

A massive let-off for Campbell. Can he capitalise now?

Here's how Stuart Broad struck in his first over to get the crucial wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite...

  15. WI 8-1published at 4 overs

Like Carlos said, it's not just Shai Hope that is battling for his Test career.

John Campbell averages 26.92 in his nine Tests so far but only 17.33 this year.

He's looked pretty solid so far as he leans on a couple of on drives to pick up a couple of twos.

    Carlos Brathwaite
West Indies all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

This is a massive innings for both of these two. They've lost one of the three players who are in form. These two need to bat time for their own game and for the series.

  17. WI 4-1published at 3 overs

Shai Hope has had a torrid time in Test match cricket since that match-winning century at Headingley in 2017. He averaged 20.24 in 2018, 19.75 in 2019 and just 14.25 this year so far.

He's turned inside out by a cracker from Jimmy Anderson.

The right-hander is going to have battle hard here for his side and, probably, his Test career.

  18. Postpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 25 July 2020

Stuart Broad had a great day with the bat (and made a fantastic start with the ball), can he now produce one of those famous spells and rattle through this West Indies side?

  19. WI 1-1published at 2 overs

Fantastic opening over from Stuart Broad - exactly what you'd want from an experienced campaigner.

I remember Broad saying at the end of the fourth day in the second Test last week that if England got Kraigg Brathwaite in the first 12 overs with the new ball they were confident they could win the Test.

As a result, I think England will fancy steaming through the West Indies here.

  20. Not outpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 25 July 2020

HUGE appeal from England and Stuart Broad for lbw first up against Shai Hope.

Broad was wheeling off in celebration initially but that's going down leg and they wisely opt against the review.
