Long chat between Joe Root and Stuart Broad, with the latter wanting the field changed.

Broad wants a close catcher on the drive on the off side. Root obliges and Dom Sibley is brought in at a very short mid-off.

That was a very fine deflection and Jofra Archer could do nothing about it at fine leg. James Anderson is having a bit of a chunter.

  3. WI 29-2published at 11 overs

    Target 399

Good from Hope and Brathwaite, rotating the strike when they find the gap.

Anderson strays down the leg side last up and Hope flicks it very fine for four.

  4. WI 21-2published at 10.2 overs

My days. How has that not hit the stumps?

James Anderson sends down a fierce in-ducker that beats Shai Hope's inside edge and just evades the bails.

Tom Grunshaw: I don't think it can be expressed enough how thankful we are to the West Indies (and will be to Pakistan and Ireland) for locking themselves in hotels and returning professional cricket to our screens. We owe them a huge favour in return.

    Media caption,

    Thank You, West Indies!

  6. WI 21-2published at 10 overs

Shot! That's lovely from Kraigg Brathwaite, a sweetly-timed push through the covers for four. Didn't even need a follow-through.

It was a little bit too high.

Kraigg Brathwaite was very squared up.

  9. WI 17-2published at 9.4 overs

Stuart Broad gets it through onto Kraigg Brathwaite's leg and turns in appeal.

Too high, surely. Joe Root duly does not review.

Can't be out if Broad doesn't celebrappeal.

  10. WI 17-2published at 9.1 overs

Jofra Archer misfields at mid-off, giving Shai Hope a single.

That does put Kraigg Brathwaite - James Anderson's 500th Test victim - on strike to Stuart Broad...

Mayer Wakefield: England should not be counting their chickens. WI have had a day to reset, have only lost one top-order bat and there may be rain delays. Experts sounding a little over-confident to me.

  12. WI 16-2published at 9 overs

    Brathwaite 4, Hope 8

Kraigg Brathwaite clips a couple through mid-wicket.

James Anderson responds with a beauty that beats the outside edge.

  14. 'Broad is a wonderful cricketer'published at 11:10 British Summer Time 28 July 2020

I always look at Stuart Broad's paces and when he's around 85-86mph, you know those knees are pumping and he's in rhythm.

He's a wonderful cricketer to have in the dressing room.

  15. WI 14-2published at 8 overs

    Hope defends the last.

That's one over down for those predicting when Broad will get to 500.

It was a good shot, it was right there to hit. A long half-volley, you don't get too many of those from Stuart Broad. It was in the air, though, it wasn't far away from Dom Bess.

  17. WI 14-2published at 7.5 overs

Shai Hope, batting outside his crease, defends the first three balls.

The fourth gets through and hits him high on the leg, far too high to be worth an lbw shout.

Bang! Hope cracks a full, wide ball between gully and backward point for four.

Bandana on, Stuart Broad gives his baggy jumper to James Anderson, despite Jofra Archer joking that he'd like to take it to get a second jumper on.

    It is cold today.

Right. Here goes Broad on 499...

BenjySutts: Broady to get in the 500 club within the first five overs of the morning and then it’s bang on to run through em.

Chris Fone: My prediction for Broady today: max 3 overs until he gets the magic 500th.

It's going to take a Kraigg Brathwaite type of innings, he does like to bat a long period of time. The one thing he's got to be wary of is being trapped on the crease.
