  1. Aus 2-0published at 0.3 overs

Oh, wow! This is a huge missed opportunity for England.

Aaron Finch drives one down the ground, which Chris Woakes get a finger on it to slow it down. That allows Eoin Morgan to come round from mid-off and shy at the stumps but the throw is wild.

Finch would have been out by a good five or six yards with a direct hit.

    Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on Test Match Special

It's the easiest little dribble to mid-wicket - and he has just missed it.

  4. Aus 1-0published at 0.1 overs

    Sigh.

A really sloppy misfield from Tom Curran allows David Warner to get off the mark first ball.

    That was woeful.

If England can dislodge this pair quickly, without too much damage, we're in for a real tight one.

Chris Woakes is going to get us under way with David Warner facing up.

    Tom Curran's 39-ball 37 was fantastic.

It took him 13 balls to get off the mark but it turned into a perfectly-paced innings.

    Here are his boundaries...

    Thanks Stephan.

Have we got a game on our hands here folks? People always say you can't judge a pitch until both sides have batted on it so did England make hard work of that or is the pitch more difficult than first thought?

Just a reminder that England haven't lost an ODI series since January 2017 and a home series since 2015. Can they keep that record in tact?

Right, I'm off to ask myself why I put myself through fantasy football each season. I'll be back for the conclusion. Here's Callum Matthews.

It's not ideal having to play on a used wicket but Eoin Morgan seems happy with it because he's been talking about the World Cup in four years' time and trying to prepare for the wickets they'll get.

You can thank me for the blast at the end. With five overs to go I decided that this was going nowhere, so time to get on with some work I'd been putting off. Let me know when to duck out of the Australian reply.

There was a definite momentum shift towards the end of the innings there. It looked like England wouldn't see out there 50 overs at one point.

They've got up to a total where you think just maybe it might be enough. England are going to have to bowl perfectly but Australia's fielding was pretty poor so if England field better.

David Merson: England 231/9. Well it’s something to bowl at but I don’t think it’s going to be enough.

Rashid ended up on 35 not out from 26 balls. I reckon he'll have an important hand to play with the ball too.

59 runs came from the final five overs, including 18 off Pat Cummins. That... could be important.
