Blue sky is appearing over the ground!
Sam Curran completes his over with a well-pitched up delivery that Babar Azam blocks down the pitch.
Thanks Jamie.
We've still got 49.1 overs left in the day despite losing those seven overs. With the forecast below I imagine rain or certainly bad light will beat us at some stage.
Well we've had an extraordinary storm but it's dry at the moment and here come the umpires, so let's join Callum Matthews to see what happens next in what will be the final session, with Pakistan on 85-2.

We'll have lost seven overs and they'll be made up in the coming days. But I suspect that we might lose a few more.

I can see England players emerging from the dressing room to do a few warm-ups. The light has improved.

One area where Test cricket must improve, is allowing play under floodlights when bad light is the only issue. Get with the times!

The hover cover has been moved from the pitch now. Most of the groundstaff have disappeared. There are just a couple of areas of the outfield being driven over by the super-sopper.
Play will resume at 16:00 BST.
While we wait, here's a Fan's Tale.

The umpires want to get things moving so they have come out earlier than planned for their inspection.

Re daddycool 13.30. I like the idea of applying percentages to slip fielders. I wonder if we could fathom the percent of other slip cordons and the individuals amongst them who make up the great slip fielders.

Burns atoned early in the afternoon session, neatly pouching Azhar Ali low at second slip to give Anderson his 592nd Test wicket.
England jirbled two catches in the slips before lunch, Dom Sibley and Rory Burns the culprits. Abid Ali was the fortunate batsman on both occasions, when one and 21. He remains unbeaten on 49.
While we wait for the latest inspection let's go back over the story of the day so far. Pakistan brought back Fawad Alam for his first Test since 2009 and elected to bat. They lost Shan Masood to a delightful delivery from James Anderson in only the third over.
The umpires are going to look again at 15:45 BST.

The big sheets that cover the square are being rolled up.

I can literally see the ground from the end of the main road and it's still very soggy everywhere here but... actually pretty bright! Hopefully we can get a few overs in literally perfect bowling conditions.

The umpires are not doing a lot of inspecting in truth. It's more a chat with the groundstaff at the edge of the covers.
Umpires out in the centre now in conversation with the groundstaff, looking suspiciously at those skies Henry has just highlighted.
Incidentally, Test regulations stipulate that if the artificial light overpowers the natural then it is unfit for play, so we need this to clear and be more like it currently is along the arid south-east coast.
