  1. 'We wanted to make a statement'published at 18:18 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

Pakistan captain Azhar Ali talking to TMS: "It's been frustrating, the weather is in nobody's control. It's rained every day and the light hasn't been very good and it's been frustrating for the players. I thought it would have been a close game again and a fantastic Test match but unfortunately the weather was the winner in the end.

"We wanted to make sure that we got some wickets and bowled in the right areas - we wanted to do all the things we'd do in any part of the match. We knew in the back of the mind that it wasn't going to be result orientated but we wanted to make a statement.

"I'm proud of the boys because the first couple of hours or batting first there is always something for the bowler but as a batting unit we always take up the challenge which is a good thing and the boys fought hard in the middle. We have huge respect for the England bowling attack because there's a lot of wickets and experience there. The most heartening thing is that the boys stuck at it."

I've enjoyed parts of the game - I enjoyed the last two hours. I think the cricket we've seen has been exciting - the pitch has played a part in that.

Pakistan, for those two hours, will take a great deal of positivity because the pitch played it's best because of the sun shining but Mohammad Abbas is a wonderful bowler. The dismissal of Ollie Pope from Yasir Shah. Pakistan, over the five days, have taken a few move positives.

You start again on Friday and I think batting first will be important.

Former Pakistan all-rounder on Test Match Special

It's been very frustrating - we can't control the weather. we've seen some good cricket though and from a Pakistan perspective it's a really positive thing to see Mohammad Rizwan play so well, he showed some discipline. Abid Ali learnt from the last Test match too.

The Pakistan bowlers did alright in these conditions. They showed good discipline and good length and line and that's a good sign.

It's not been a great game. It's not been a game that has been that well received by spectators and listeners from outside. There's been criticism about how little cricket we've had.

Tricky time for Buttler to come in with Abbas probing away in metronomic fashion. The England wicketkeeper remains on nought from 12 balls.

Arjun Singh: That was not a googly from Yasir. It was a leggie that didn’t spin at all - no way he intended that delivery. Pope’s had some rotten luck.

  17. Eng 105-4published at 39 overs

Now how's Jos Buttler going to play here? He's got two slips in to greet him. Dot ball to start, cannot beat the fielder at mid-on.
