I've been impressed with Zak Crawley. He looks to get on the back foot and cut, pull and drive and looks a lot more attacking than Dom Sibley. Sibley is old school, get yourself in there and grind away.

These two work quite nicely together.

The first spin of the innings in the diminutive form of Yasir Shah, who took eight wickets in the first Test at Old Trafford. Excellent footwork from Crawley, advancing down the pitch and thumping it to the long-off boundary.

This is the seventh time that Dom Sibley and Zak Crawley have had a partnership in Test cricket. It is the fourth time that they've reached fifty - in fact four of their last five partnerships have reached the landmark.

The exception was when Roston Chase dismissed Crawley for a duck in Manchester earlier in the summer.

A brief flurry of excitement from Shaheen as he traps Sibley on the pad but it was high and pitching outside the leg stump. And he might have got an edge as well. Pakistan lost one review yesterday but still have two at their disposal.

Tom Fish: Re Michael Vaughan's comments that Rory Burns hasn't got any runs for a while, he got 57 and 90 in the final Test against WI and was the second highest run scorer in the series.

Naseem loses the leg slip and puts a man on the square leg boundary for the hook. Then it's the old three-card trick as he fires in the yorker. Enterprising from the teenager, but Sibley is up to it and digs it out for a single.

Well done to England - it is two young batsman trying to establish themselves in the side and we've seen good signs from both of them.

It's good to see them applying themselves. For me, Zak Crawley offers so much. He's got a simple and clear technique and I like the fact that early on he was able to bat outside the crease and nullify the threat of Mohammad Abbas.

Are we going to have a bit of Bodyline? Naseem tries from round the wicket and has a leg slip in addition to the three conventional ones. No alarms for Sibley though, and he gets a thick edge safely away through the gully for his second boundary.

It’s a top three that England need to invest in for a while. Rory Burns hasn’t scored any runs for a while - I’m slightly concerned that his technique hasn’t quite looked after him in tricky conditions this summer.

A change of ends for Shaheen and Sibley guides him safely backward of square cover for his opening boundary in the warm afternoon Hampshire sunshine.

Tom: And that’s the follow-on avoided, phew! Well batted England.

Crawley pauses Naseem to allow a lone gull to meander past. Thousands of them near where I live. And they're not quiet or respecting of time either.

Zak Crawley will be thinking 'well hold on a minute, if anyone is going to be the person to move aside for someone, it's probably going to be me so I want to show the coaches that I can get stuck in and play these kind of conditions and apply myself', so there are things to tick off.

I've been in this situation a few times and it is tricky. It's difficult for the bowlers too because all they are thinking is 'I'm running up' but there are wickets to be had and batsmen's minds to get into.
