Eoin Morgan played beautifully, it was such a controlled knock. Overall after that big partnership Ireland would have taken something under 350. It's not going to be an easy run chase against a bowling attack that's been all over Ireland in the first two games but it might just be the catalyst for the likes of Paul Stirling or Andrew Balbirnie.

    And that's that.

Saqib Mahmood sees that mid-off is up and tries to launch the ball over him but miscues his shot straight up and Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie snaffles it.

So England fail to bat their overs by one ball but post a very challegning total of 328.

That was two big units coming together.

Again Tom Curran shifts across and is a bit peeved the ball isn't called wide.

But the umpire explains it's because he's going so far to the off side.

He does then scurry a quick single despite Saqib Mahmood and Josh Little colliding.

  5. Not outpublished at 49.2 overs

    Yep, no bat on ball.

Tom Curran shifted so far across to the off side that ball wasn't actually a wide. But not out either.

I did hear a little noise but that could be Tom Curran hitting the ground.

  7. Ireland reviewpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

Tom Curran swipes at a wide ball and misses.

    Or does he?

Andrew Balbirnie reckons he's nicked it.

Could well have been the sound of the bat on the ground though.

  8. Eng 327-9published at 49.1 overs

Tom Curran scampers two to take England to 327 - the score they posted against Ireland in that famous win by the men in green at the 2011 World Cup.

    Run rate 6.63

Saqib Mahmood splices one just short of mid-on and picks up a single.

Tom Curran then slices one off a thick outside edge for one more.

Scratchy but valuable runs for England.

Craig Young just missed his yorker and it ended up a half-volley which Tom Curran seized upon.

  13. Eng 322-9published at 48.1 overs

Shot! Tom Curran leathers Craig Young back down the ground for four.

  14. Eng 318-9published at 48 overs

    Curran 30, Mahmood 11

Saqib Mahmood cracks a pull shot and scampers a quick single.

Tom Curran swivels another short ball round the corner for one more.

Mahmood pushes the final ball to square leg and, with the fielder out on the boundary, gets back for two.

    That's 11 off 11 balls for England's number 11.

Why is there no slip to Saqib Mahmood? He's a number 11. Ireland need to be thinking wickets - they can't allow England to tick along for the next three overs.

    Never on.

  17. Eng 314-9published at 47 overs

Saqib Mahmood picks up a single through backward point to keep the strike.

  18. Eng 313-9published at 46.4 overs

Tom Curran picks up a couple through the covers before thumping a pull to the fence.

    He's up to 29.

I’ve heard on the grapevine that England had a movie night on Saturday after the game.

Apparently they were all cuddled up in the dark watching "something with Bruce Willis".

  20. Eng 305-9published at 46 overs

Good running from England, taking advantage of slow reactions from the fielder to scurry two.

That also keeps Tom Curran on strike for the start of the next over.
