  1. Steady progress for Durhampublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

    Durham (103 & 38-0) trail Yorkshire (199) by 58 runs

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle at Emirates, Chester-le-Street

Durham began their second innings, mid-afternoon, 96 runs behind.

Given they were all out for just 103 in their first innings, that was a sizeable sum.

But Alex Lees and Sean Dickson have managed to bat for more than an hour and have taken them through to tea without loss. Lees has 24 and Dickson 14. Both have more than they managed in the first innings.

Tea is often a rude interruption to batting progress, but if they can continue to build after the break this game will be evenly balanced.

  2. Bresnan moves into 80spublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Warwickshire (293-6) lead Northamptonshire (142) by 151 runs

Ex-England all-rounder Tim Bresnan has moved onto 82 since tea as he looks for a century on his Warwickshire debut.

He has 16 overs left to do it, with innings coming to an end after 120 overs in the Bob Willis Trophy.

The Bears are already 151 runs ahead of Northants' meagre total and Alex Thomson is alongside Bresnan on 34.

  4. Play resumes at Tauntonpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Somerset (296) lead Glamorgan (131) by 165 runs

After more than an hour off for rain - incorporating an early tea - the players are back on at Taunton, where Somerset will start their second innings after earlier dismissing Glamorgan for just 165.

With a big 165-run lead will Tom Abell's side look to build the foundations for a declaration at some stage tomorrow?

  5. Turn on and tune inpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Half-century for Essex opener Nick Browne at the start of the evening session as he continues to build a platform for the county champions.

Somerset have 46 overs left on day two to build on a massive first-innings lead of 165 runs after Craig Overton’s heroics with the ball. The paceman took four wickets as Glamorgan slumped to 38-6, then returned to dismiss Graham Wagg for 28 as he was threatening to launch a fightback.Josh Davey also claimed two early wickets as Glamorgan’s top six kept the slip cordon in business while failing to reach double figures, and Surrey-bound Jamie Overton also took two with some hostile pace.A heavy shower meant an early tea being called as Glamorgan contemplate the gulf in quality between first and second divisions.

Those showers are still continuing which will hold up the start of the evening session.

  8. 100 runs

100 for Leus du Plooypublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Nottinghamshire (324) lead Derbyshire (202-9) by 122 runs

Du Plooy tonImage source, Rex Features

Leus du Plooy has been the glue that's stuck Derbyshire together and he seals his century with a six!

With his side nine wickets down he clearly did not want to risk not making it to the milestone, so took matters into his own hands with a lofted shot over the rope.

Derbyshire are still 122 runs behind Notts' first-innings total and have a battle on their hands in the match.

  9. 100 runs

100 partnership for Leicestershirepublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Leicestershire (102-0) trail Lancashire (322) by 220 runs

Two people who will enjoy their tea break are Leicestershire's Ben Slater and Hasan Azad, who've shared an opening partnership of 102 at New Road.

Slater is on 67 with Pakistan batsman Azad not out on 31.

Lancashire reached 322 for their first innings but will their top order regret not clicking so well?

  13. Can Somerset batsman match bowling display?published at 15:31 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Somerset (296) lead Glamorgan (131) by 165 runs

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset

Top-class quick bowling from the Overton twins has exposed the gulf that exists between first and second division county cricket as Glamorgan were bundled out for 131.

Even without Lewis Gregory, on England duty, Somerset have a formidable seam attack. With him, they’ll take a lot of stopping.

Putting big scores on the board is another matter although, with a lead of 135, their young batsmen now have an ideal chance to show what they can do.

  14. Welcome wicket for Hampshirepublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

    Sussex (176 & 60-1) lead Hampshire (153) by 83 runs

Hampshire finally break Sussex's opening pair in this second innings.

Ian Holland accounts for Tom Haines leg before for 20.

  15. Sussex pressing home advantagepublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

    Sussex (176 & 58-0) lead Hampshire (153) by 81 runs

Sussex making a promising start to their second innings at Hove.

This game was evenly poised after both first innings were completed with the hosts taking a narrow 23-run lead.

Phil Salt (38 not out) and Tom Haines (18 not out) taking their lead to 81 runs after adding 58 for the opening stand so far.

  16. Derbyshire nine down at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Nottinghamshire (324) lead Derbyshire (159-9) by 165 runs

    Tom BarberImage source, Rex Features

Ben Aitchinson is next to depart for Derbyshire, caught in the slips by Steven Mullaney as Tom Barber follows up his maiden first-class wicket with another soon after.

Despite Leus de Plooy's solid innings - still there on 61 - the visitors are languishing on 159-9, 165 adrift of Nottinghamshire's first-innings total.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

    Stoneman c Andersson b Walallawita 45 (Surrey 80-2 v Middlesex 347-6 dec)

Big wicket for Middlesex and for young spin bowler Thilan Walallawita.

It's a maiden first-class wicket for the slow left-armer that denies Mark Stoneman a half-century too.

Stoneman caught at point by Martin Andersson as he miscues a cut shot.

  18. Yorkshire miss out by one runpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

    Durham (103 & 15-0) trail Yorkshire (199) by 81 runs

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

The final pairing of Ben Coad and Matthew Fisher caused a few problems for Durham as they added 35 runs.

Coad decided the best form of defence was attack and was on 28, having played some big drives, when he inadvertently left his bat hanging beyond off stump and clipped a Paul Coughlin delivery to the keeper.

Yorkshire fell one run short of a batting point but in the bigger scheme of things their lead of 96 runs is the important factor in a, so far, low-scoring game.

In reply Durham are now 15-0.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Ben Slaterpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Leicestershire (76-0) trail Lancashire (322) by 246 runs

    Ben SlaterImage source, Rex Features

The Foxes have quietly, but confidently, started their reply at New Road - and now opener Ben Slater has reached his 50 on debut.

It's come from 88 balls, featuring nine boundaries, while Hasan Azad is on 24 with a more conservative brand of cricket for now.

Tom Bailey is bowling well for the Red Rose but there's no breakthrough yet.
