    Gubbins c Jacks b Clarke 192 (Middlesex 342-5 v Surrey)

Nick Gubbins finally departs for Middlesex against Surrey just shy of what would've been a brilliant double hundred.

He very unselfishly puts his personal landmark to one side as he tries to get his team to 350 and an extra batting point in the last over before the cut off.

Will Jacks takes a catch at point off Rikki Clarke as Gubbins tried to find the boundary.

Nineteen fours and a six in that 315-ball knock from Gubbins.

Leicestershire given five-run penaltypublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

    Lancashire 303-8 v Leicestershire

A bit of drama at New Road as Leicestershire are given a five-run penalty after Dieter Klein throw the ball at Lancashire batsman Danny Lamb in an attempt to hit the stumps.

It looks like an act of frustration as the Red Rose have passed the 300 mark with the bat.

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle at Emirates, Chester-le-Street

I don't believe in the curse of the commentator, but the moment I hit send on my last update Durham brought Chris Rushworth into the attack and there was an instant dividend.

WICKETpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Wicketkeeper John Simpson is unbeaten on 34 at the other end as Surrey continue to seek a first breakthrough of the day.

  15. Pressure on Du Plooy in Derbyshire replypublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 324 v Derbyshire 29-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Three wickets for Jake Ball this morning as Nottinghamshire take an early bowling point. Billy Godleman and Luis Reece both nicked the former England paceman behind and a loose drive from Wayne Madsen flew to point.

With their lower order packed with youthful inexperience, Derbyshire need a contribution from Leus du Plooy, who has started brightly, if they are to made serious inroads towards the hosts’ all out total of 324.

Up goes the finger pretty sharpish.
