WICKETpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Hankins b C Overton 5 (Somerset v Gloucestershire 23-4, target 385)

    Somerset strike straight away!

They would have been simmering in the dressing room worrying about the weather for a second week running.

But in the first full over of the resumption, Craig Overton takes out the middle and off stumps of George Hankins.

    A tremendously lazy push forward.

  2. Tea at Headingleypublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Yorkshire 260 v Lancashire 109-1

An excellent session for Lancashire comes to an end with Alex Davies unbeaten on 71.

Just the one wicket for Yorkshire when Adam Lyth removed Keaton Jennings lbw.

Lancashire are 151 behind with nine first-innings wickets still in hand. Strong position that.

  3. 16:15 BST restart at New Roadpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Worcs 378-6 v Warwickshire 355-9d

Good news at New Road, no overs have been lost and they'll soon be back underway.

  4. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Durham 337-9 dec v Derbyshire 159-1

North Group leaders Derbyshire head to tea in complete control at 159-1. Luis Reece has 67 and Wayne Madsen is on 30.

But has too much time been lost to rain for them to force a victory? A draw with maximum batting points would still be golden for Derbyshire.

It's also tea at Grace Road where Leicestershire are 59-2 against Notts in their second innings and still trailing by 62.

  5. Tea at Wantage Roadpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Northamptonshire 332 v Glamorgan 259 and 111-8

Deja vu for Northamptonshire - again.

Once batsmen start getting after them, they really do not know how to respond.

At 60 for 8 Glamorgan were still in danger of losing by an innings.

But Dan Douthwaite and Marchant de Lange have whacked a half-century stand in just 21 balls!

And Blessing Muzarabani has been taken for 47 in three overs!

It should be only academic to the result because Glamorgan lead by just 38 but very concerning for Northamptonshire that the same thing has happened in three games running.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Jennings lbw b Lyth 23 (Yorks 260 v Lancs 104-1)

You just can't keep Adam Lyth out of this Roses game!

Keaton Jennings misses a straight one sweeping and is hit on the pad. Up goes the finger.

A wicket to go with his earlier century for Lyth.

  7. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Surrey 278 v Kent 342 and 102-8

Rain brings tea slightly early in SE11 with Surrey having roared back into the game.

    Rikki Clarke 9.4-5-13-5 !

    Amazing stuff.

  8. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Middlesex 102-3 (target 193) v Sussex

It's raining again at Radlett and so they'll take tea. Middlesex are on course for victory if the weather holds - they need 91 more with seven wickets in hand.

  9. 100 partnershippublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Yorkshire 260 v Lancashire 103-0

That's the hundred opening stand for Alex Davies and Keaton Jennings.

Davies has bashed his way to 70, with 14 fours, while Jennings has been more serene in moving to 23.

    Lancashire are in complete control.

  10. 16:01 BST restart at Tauntonpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Somerset v Gloucestershire 14-3 (Target 385)

Restart pushed back at Taunton by some more rain but it's quickly left.

38 overs scheduled in the day now.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Podmore c Jacks b Clarke 2 (Surrey 278 v Kent 342 and 102-8)

    Rikki ClarkeImage source, Getty Images

    Five for Rikki Clarke!

A full delivery moving away from Harry Podmore who's sucked into a drive and edges low to first slip.

Clarke has turned this game on it's head and that'll be tea.

  12. Postpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Middlesex 97-3 (target 193) v Sussex

Middlesex's target is now below 100 at Radlett.

After those three quick wickets for Ollie Robinson, Robbie White and Stevie Eskinazi have put on 40 for the fourth wicket.

    96 more needed.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Bull b White 4 (Northamptonshire 332 v Glamorgan 259 and 60-8)

Northamptonshire are closing in and Jack White has a fourth wicket for a first-class best in his third match.

He's managed to bowl Kieran Bull round his legs!

Bull shuffled far too far across his stumps, went to leg glance and missed and looked down in horror to discover his leg stump had been trimmed.

Dan Douthwaite is at least whacking them past the deficit.

  14. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Worcs 378-6 v Warwickshire 355-9d

After a wobble, Worcestershire had gathered themselves again with a half-century stand between Ben Cox and Ed Barnard.

With five overs remaining, they look set to reach maximum batting points and get a lead of 50-60.

But rain has arrived at New Road and they'll take tea.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    O'Riordan c Clarke b Curran 2 (Surrey 278 v Kent 342 and 102-7)

Surrey have another couple at The Oval!

Rikki Clarke takes his fourth wicket and now pouches a low catch to give Sam Curran his second.

Marcus O'Riordan poking at a ball around the off stump.

    A dramatic collapse.

Can Kent find something down the order to at least push the target over 200?

  16. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Northamptonshire 332 v Glamorgan 259 and 60-7

There's almost nothing for Glamorgan to be pleased about today.

But they have at least avoided entering the record books by getting past their lowest total against Northamptonshire of 54 and their lowest of 56 at Wantage Road.

Still a little work to do to avoid an innings defeat.

  17. 50 runs

Nothing doing with the ballpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Durham 337-9 dec v Derbyshire 134-1

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Luis Reece has followed the lead of his fellow opener Billy Godleman in reaching fifty.

He got there in 140 balls and 5x4s and it is his 27th in first-class cricket. Godleman made his 50 from the last ball of the morning session but was then out a run later just after lunch, slapping a one-handed shot off Matty Potts to Michael Jones at point.

Derbyshire are 134-1 with Wayne Madsen on 22 but there's nothing really doing here with the ball from a Durham point of view.

  18. 15:45 BST restart at Tauntonpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Somerset v Gloucestershire 14-3 (Target 385)

    Some hope for Somerset!

The outfield has dried sufficiently for the umpires to decide play can restart at 3:45 BST.

    42 overs will be possible.

Enough time for Somerset to win the game they way things have been going but suddenly a target for Gloucestershire to try and get to.

If they can survive until tomorrow, Storm Francis might save them.

  19. 50 runs

for Daviespublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Yorkshire 260 v Lancashire 76-0

    Alex DaviesImage source, Getty Images

Lancashire opener Alex Davies gets to his fifty by creaming Jordan Thompson in front of point to the rope. It's his 10th four in this attacking innings.

The half-century has taken just 73 deliveries.

  20. 50 runs

for Reecepublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Durham 337-9 dec v Derbyshire 130-1

And there is Derbyshire opener Luis Reece's half-century. It's been a patient knock 140 balls with five fours.

Can the North Group leaders sneak into a lead by the end of today?
