Somerset v Gloucestershire 14-3 (target 385) - start delayed, wet outfield

The umpires are having an inspection at Taunton, but it looks as though more rain is approaching.

With tomorrow potentially a write off because of Storm Francis, Somerset may have to force a victory at some point today. If they get on.

    Yorkshire 260 v Lancashire 0-0

Lunch will be at 13:10 BST at Headingley as they make up for the time lost so far.

Lancashire openers Alex Davies and Keaton Jennings will have a tricky 10-minute spell to face before the interval.

  4. Middlesex need 193 to winpublished at 12:58

    Middlesex 203 v Sussex 293 & 102

Sussex are bowled out for 102 by Middlesex at Radlett - something of a recovery when you consider they were 4-4 last night.

It means Middlesex will need 193 for victory. Tasty.

  5. Postpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Worcs 239-2 v Warwickshire 355-9d

Worcestershire are building another partnership with Tom Fell - who made a memorable century at Northampton last week - and Jack Haynes.

35 more potential overs for them, so at the moment they are on course to take a first-innings lead if they can push on after lunch.

Can't rule out maximum batting points either.

  6. Yorkshire all outpublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Yorkshire 260 v Lancashire

That's it, Yorkshire's first innings ends at 260.

Number 11 Jared Warner is the last man to go, trapped lbw by George Balderson.

Duanne Olivier is unbeaten on 20. We'll know how good a score that is once Lancashire have batted!

  7. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Hants v Essex 235-3

Essex are beginning to up the scoring before lunch.

Dan Lawrence launched spinner Mason Crane for a straight six a couple of overs ago and Alastair Cook has just gone to 125 with back-to-back boundaries off Brad Wheal.

  8. Northants all outpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Northants 332 v Glamorgan 259

Blessing Muzarabani is the last man out for Northants, bowled by Marchant de Lange attempting a huge heave, and they close their first innings with a lead of 73.

Not quite as many as they'd have hoped for when they were 273-4, but they'll work with what they've got.

    Bell-Drummond lbw Curran 18 (Surrey 278 v Kent 342 and 18-1)

Surrey, of course, will want to take wickets to prevent Kent dictating terms.

An early one for Sam Curran from round the wicket and he catches Daniel Bell-Drummond in his crease.

So plumb Curran doesn't even bother turning to look at the umpire.

One for the match referee's notebook.

  10. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Surrey 278 v Kent 342 and 18-0

Far fewer to build on for Kent than they would have been thinking of yesterday.

But they still lead by 82.

How much will they think about tomorrow's forecast in judging what target they might want to set?

In ordinary circumstances they would want to bat the day and see where they're at tonight.

But they might have to bring that assessment forward to tea today.

  11. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Yorkshire 253-9 v Lancashire

Batting bonus point number two for Yorkshire.

Ed Burrows fires one into the pads of last man Jared Warner but the ball deflects down to the boundary for four leg byes.

How many can Yorkshire get up to from here?

  12. Postpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Hants v Essex 205-3

Essex go past 200 and bring up their first batting bonus point at Arundel.

Alastair Cook, century under his belt, and England hopeful Dan Lawrence are in the middle for the South Group leaders. It could be a long afternoon in the dirt for Hampshire.

    Samit PatelImage source, Rex Features

Leicestershire continue to chip away at Notts this morning - Samit Patel has just been bowled by Tom Taylor for 13 to leave Notts 289-6. They lead by 67, but it's some collapse from 200-0 last night.

Northants are also losing wickets against Glamorgan - they've fallen to 325-8, a lead of 66, with Ricardo Vasconcelos still there on 55.

Skipper Ben Brown is looking good for Sussex - the wicketkeeper is up to 45 and his side are 97-7 against Middlesex at Radlett - a lead of 187.

Derbyshire openers Luis Reece and Billy Godleman are still going strong at Durham - they're 54-0, but still trail by 283.

    Mitchell c Yates b Miles 110 (Worcs 214-2 v Warwickshire 355-9d)

The end of Daryl Mitchell as he drives at a full Craig Miles delivery from round the wicket.

Just fails to get over the shot and lifts it to Rob Yates at point.

43 more overs potentially for Worcestershire but now two new men at the crease.

WICKETpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Patterson c Jennings b Lamb (Yorkshire 234-9 v Lancashire)

250 might be a stretch now.

Yorkshire captain Steven Patterson tries to pull Danny Lamb away, but is too early on the shot and nicks it through to Keaton Jennings at slip.

    Seamer Lamb has 4-51.

    Yorkshire 234-8 v Lancashire

Yorkshire are creeping their way up towards 250 and a second batting bonus point.

Every point could be crucial for the White Rose county if they want to overtake North Group leaders Derbyshire. They started the round two points behind them in the table.

  17. Surrey all outpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Surrey 278 v Kent 342

Ben Foakes' fine innings comes to an end.

Trying to force Grant Stewart with only No. 11 Amar Virdi for company, he pokes a catch to slip.

A really important knock from Foakes, limiting the deficit to 64 and taking time out of the game.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 24 August 2020

    Dunn lbw Milnes 8 (Surrey 278-9 v Kent 342)

    Absolutely dead this.

Full and straight from Matt Milnes and Matt Dunn is beaten for pace and caught on the back leg in front of all three.

Kent can still take a handy lead but nowhere near what they were envisaging yesterday.

First-class century number 66 for Alastair Cook!

The former England captain gets there off 180 balls as Essex continue their march towards a place in the Bob Willis Trophy final.

    Hill b Lamb 29 (Yorkshire 221-8 v Lancashire)

    Yorkshire lose another!

Teenager George Hill is bowled by Danny Lamb for a well-made 29.

Steven Patterson and Duane Olivier are now at the crease for the hosts - both on nought.
