The question here is height. I think it might be clipping.

Pakistan are in disarray. It looked a good shout, it was a wonderful delivery.

    Shakeel

Saqib Mahmood has got Saud Shakeel trapped lbw, but the left-hander has gone upstairs.

    This looked close.

Sue: Can we keep this team please?

Matt Taggart: Have Pakistan got so wrapped up in the Euros that they're trying to post a football score?

  7. Pak 24-3published at 6 overs

Ben Stokes' finger is still taped up, and being held into position by a plinth or some material. He's not at 100% yet, but he loves playing for England and wasn't going to turn this opportunity down.

It doesn't stop him sprawling around at mid-off to save a boundary.

I imagine he's a great captain to play under.

I think we can safely say it's nibbling, there are signs of uneven bounce and lateral movement. Pakistan are under considerable pressure.

  9. Pak 22-3published at 5 overs

Saud Shakeel is up and running in international cricket.

Saqib Mahmood's line strays ever so slightly, and it is whipped to the square leg boundary by the left-hander.

Craig Overton could have perhaps done better at square leg, though.

It looks like the perfect day for watching cricket. Not too hot, just a nice pleasant temperature.

Thomas Measures: Maybe we should enter our 2nd XI in the next World Cup.

Small crowd or not I think everyone is a little stunned.

It's a delayed debut for Saud Shakeel, he was meant to play against South Africa but he got injured. He's got a very good record, averaging in the 40s. But it's the experienced players who will be under the microscope, all the Pakistani fans here in Cardiff and at home will be keen to see Babar Azam.

The Pakistan debutant Saud Shakeel is the new batter.

    He's a left-hander, and averages 46 in List A cricket.

The decision to give Gregory the new ball, which was not an obvious decision, has paid dividends.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.2 overs

    Rizwan c Simpson b Gregory 13 (Pak 17-3)

    An absolute beauty!

It is the perfect length from Lewis Gregory, drawing Mohammad Rizwan into the defensive prod, and a feather of an edge is comfortably caught by John Simpson behind the stumps.

A first ODI wicket for Gregory, and a first international catch for Simpson.

    England are all over Pakistan.

It's interesting to see captain Stokes fielding at mid-on and mid-off early on here. Not sure I've ever seen him fielding there before.

  19. Pak 14-2published at 3 overs

Good cricket from Mohammad Rizwan and then Fakhar Zaman.

The former rotates the strike after the boundary, before Fakhar gets off the mark with a nudge into the on side.

Oh wow! Another bit of fortune for Rizwan as he ends the over by inside edging past his stumps and away for four.

That was a lovely shot from Rizwan, a ravishing stroke. He's a very talented batsman who has been in great form this year.
