Fantastic catch from John Simpson. It is is never simple turning round and taking one over your shoulder.

You felt that something was happening there, but for England it is about taking wickets, and that is perfectly timed.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.1 overs

    Maqsood c Simpson b Overton 19 (Pak 86-5)

The short ball approach pays dividends and Craig Overton has his second wicket of the innings.

Sohaib Maqsood is cramped for space and mistimes a pull, the ball goes high and wicketkeeper John Simpson, running back towards the boundary, makes good ground to take the catch.

This partnership is gathering a little bit of momentum, potentially for the first time in this innings.

  4. Pak 86-4published at 19 overs

Shakeel plays a front-foot punch through the off side, the ball goes racing to the boundary and tests Ben Stokes' legs. The England skipper does well to chase it down and Pakistan run two.

But there's no stopping the next one as Shakeel drives through cover for four.

That wasn't a bad delivery, but Sohaib Maqsood has asked a question of Craig Overton, and it's given Pakistan a little bit of momentum.

  6. Pak 76-4published at 18 overs

A big over there for Pakistan courtesy of two big shots from Sohaib Maqsood.

Remember, this match is 47 overs per side so they need 172 runs from 29 overs.

Maybe that is the way now.

It is a fantastic shot from over the middle of the stumps. That's not easy to play.

  8. 6 runs

    Pak 76-4published at 17.4 overs

And another!! Maqsood has had enough of hanging around. It's too short from Overton and Maqsood hits it cleanly, this time over square leg.

My word! That is a huge six, against the run of play!

The Pakistan fans have awoke from a slumber.

  10. 6 runs

    Pak 68-4published at 17.1 overs

Having gone for just four runs in his first four overs, Overton concedes six from one ball as Sohaib Maqsood pulls him over the mid-wicket boundary.

It will be interesting to see England's tactics too. I think Ben Stokes will be as aggressive as he can. I don't think he'll hold anything back, he'll look to go in for the kill. If they get two more wickets they are into the real all-rounders and bowlers.

  12. Pak 61-4published at 17 overs

The cameras pan to Kumar Sangakkara. The president of Marylebone Cricket Club - and Sri Lanka legend - is enjoying a cuppa and seems to be deep in conversation. I wonder if he knows he's being watched.

Brilliant fielding from Lewis Gregory at deep square leg as he dives down and cleanly picks up the ball one-handed.

    Five from Brydon Carse's over.

You sense that Pakistan are going to dig in here for at least the next five overs.

  14. Pak 56-4published at 16 overs

Saud Shakeel prods, dabs and blocks away another Craig Overton maiden.

The seamer now has figures of 4-2-1-4.

The areas and the lines that England have bowled, they've just locked in on it amazingly, and that makes it really tough for Pakistan.

  16. Pak 56-4published at 15 overs

    Shakeel 9, Maqsood 3

Maqsood waves his bat at a full and wide delivery, the ball looping over the fielders but pulling up before reaching the boundary.

Just two from the over. England's seamers doing the business here.

Fakhar Zaman was getting tetchy, and he wanted to start playing some shots. Craig Overton just kept banging away, and that a beauty.

Fakhar was trying to be attacking to a ball he should have just defended back.

  18. Pak 54-4published at 14 overs

Sohaib Maqsood is the man in from Pakistan. They need someone to something special here to bring them back into the game.

Fakhar Zaman's torture comes to an end.

Pakistan are in deep, deep trouble now.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.5 overs

    Fakhar b Overton 10 (Pak 51-4)

Gone! Fakhar Zaman's nightmare innings comes to an end. And you had the feeling it was going to happen.

It's full from Craig Overton and Fakhar, looking to drive down the pitch, is bowled through the gap.

The Pakistan opener scored 10 off 45 balls.
