The faster you bowl, the faster it disappears.
It's short from Mark Wood, and Rohit Sharma can't help put pull, and a top edge flies over the fine leg boundary for the first six of the day.

Mark Wood has just bowled at 96.1mph.
Wowee! An absolute jaffa from Mark Wood square up Rohit Sharma, who ends up getting beaten on the outside edge.
Rohit purses his lips in appreciation.

That is a wonderful knock from Rohit Sharma in difficult conditions. He has been watchful at a tricky time to bat.
Here are some highlights from Rohit Sharma's half-century...
Well batted, Rohit Sharma.
He brings up with 20th score of 50-plus in Test cricket with a flick through square leg for a single.
It has taken him 83 balls.

I'm sure this has happened before, but I don't really remember it. Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli have both come down from the India changing room and are sat behind the sight screen, watching with the members. They must want a straight-on view, rather than the one slightly from the side that the changing room balconies give you.
They'll be impressed with how KL Rahul has played a really well-directed bouncer from Mark Wood. It was towards the neck region, and well judged by Rahul who played it in down.

The last couple of deliveries Rohit Sharma has looked very twitchy. He looks like he might play a big shot and get out. This is where your partner should tell you to tighten your game up.
Wayward from Mark Wood and Rohit Sharma swivel pulls him fine for another boundary.
Rohit is up to 47.

Tim Griffiths: If you put the opposition in and they are 50-0 then you did the wrong thing. England would be at least two down had they batted and that’s the real reason why.
Ollie Robinson has struggled with his line a little bit post lunch. His first two deliveries veer down the leg side, with Jos Buttler copping a sore one on the end of the finger.
England bowling coach Jon Lewis is having a chat with Mark Wood, who is down at fine leg. It looks like they are talking about getting the India openers on the front foot, driving.

Re Adam Dack (13:58 BST). But in tennis they get a nice sit down every 5 mins!
Mark, Cirencester
Mark Wood is bowling rapid here. Three times he reaches 94mph in this over, with all six balls over the 90 mark.
It is hard to tell how quick this pitch is at the moment. Rohit Sharma does well to ride the bounce of one that comes up around chest height, but then a couple die on their way through to Jos Buttler behind the stumps.
The pitch could be one that gets quicker as it gets sun on it over the course of the afternoon and tomorrow.

Ollie Robinson is using the crease very well, kind of angling the ball at times. He bowled well at Trent Bridge and has done so here too. I think he needs a short leg in place for when he sends one down straight. This is an important phase for Rohit Sharma as he needs to convert this into a big innings.
Ollie Robinson strays down the leg side and the ball takes a horrible bounce on Jos Buttler, who can't gather, and it runs away for four byes.
Four more to end the over too with Rohit Sharma leaning on one, to pick up his seventh boundary through the vacant third region.
There was 10 from that over. Expensive.
Now, now Adam. We all know the teas are a huge part of cricket!

Adam Dack: Five-set matches at Wimbledon last four plus hours without 40 min lunch and 20 min tea breaks! They cope with a drink and bite of banana every now and then!
Mark Wood starts with a maiden.
It's more watchful stuff from KL Rahul, with him happy to let the ball go by, leaving the ball both on line and length.

The India openers have done exceptionally well. Things just opened up for Rohit Sharma when he had those flurry of boundaries against Sam Curran. It feels like it was their morning.
