After a bend of the knees Virat lets his first ball ball go by, raising his bat out of the way in extravagant fashion.
Will Anderson return now Kohli is in? Woakes continues.

This is a big innings for Virat Kohli. Not just individually but as captain of the India team given what happened in the last Test match. He needs to fire. He looked good in his last innings, got a half-century, but he has to find that 2018 mindset with a balance between defence and attack.
Here's Virat. A big period coming up.
There hasn't been a run for more than half an hour.

It's above the knee roll but he's on the back foot. It looked a little high but it's a fair call. I thought KL Rahul could have played that on the front foot where he is a more comfortable player.
Rahul lbw Robinson 17 (Ind 28-2)
Out! It's a good decision and a really good delivery from Ollie Robinson. It nipped back and would have hit the top of off stump had Rahul's pad not got in the way.
England on top now.
Rahul has NOT hit it...
Given! KL Rahul is given out lbw to Ollie Robinson.
It took a long time for the finger to go up and Rahul sends it upstairs.
Ollie Robinson will continue after the drinks break.

India have done okay in challenging conditions. There's a little bit of dampness and a healthy tinge of green on the pitch. So really it is far so good despite the loss of Rohit Sharma for India, but they cannot to lose any more wickets.

It's been 37 dot balls for India heading into drinks. Six consecutive maidens.
Rahul 17, Pujara 0
I wandered around that new stand Stephen mentions during my time at the Oval for The Hundred. I felt very underdressed.
A sixth consecutive maiden takes us to drinks. England have come back well in that second half hour.

To the left of the pavilion is the impressive new Galadari Stand. The top section is miles high, way up in the sky. Rumours that ticket-holders for the very back row have to sign a waiver are yet to be confirmed...
That may not have been a wicket but India have now gone 30-odd balls without scoring. There have been five maidens in a row.
Chris Woakes still hasn't conceded a run.
Root never looked convinced and should have stuck to his instincts. It was missing high and wide.
England lose a review.
It looks high.
Ind 28-1
Ollie Robinson has persuaded Joe Root to go for an lbw review.
Rahul did get a fair way across...
There's so much love for Woakes out there. Such a good player.

Russ Williams: So happy to see Chris Woakes back! May there be many wickets today.
John Petrie: These are perfect conditions for Woakes return to the team.
Imtiaaz: For Tests in England, Woakes should be the first name on the team sheet (assuming he's fit).
Cheteshwar Pujara is in watchful mode. Chris Woakes attempts to pull the new Indian batsman wide with a few deliveries into the channel. He ends the over with a delivery which nips back and strikes Pujara high on the pad, prompting some 'oohs and ahhs' from England's cordon.
A maiden from Chris Woakes, who is bowling with a lovely rhythm.
