You know, sometimes it is just not your day.

Asitha Fernando keeps feeding Dom Sibley's pads for some reason, and it's easy pickings for the England opener first up.

    It was all happening there.

My WORD. Sri Lanka have made an absolute pig's ear of an easy run-out.

A huge lbw shout against Dom Sibley, ignored but Zak Crawley has already come charging up the pitch. He gets sent back when he's almost touching Sibley and should be out by miles but the two fielders behind the stumps collide, fumble, and then miss as Crawley slides home. Awful.

And to share opening bowling duties, it'll be Asitha Fernando.

Harri Glazier: 2 reverse sweeps, long hop smacked to backward point, caught off short legs ankle and bowled trying to hit it into the sea. An wonderfully village 5fer.

  7. Eng 5-0published at 1 over

Nice from Crawley, leaning onto the back foot and cracking a drive through extra cover.

A nice moment of calm after the frenetic energy to Sri Lanka's innings.

Andy France: 9:05, Kids are at school, breakfast made, laptop on. Time to crack on with work and TMS/live text on next to me. Right, hopefully catch a few wickets this morning of broad is bowling! Hang on, does that say 'all out'!?

Zak Crawley pings a couple of runs off his pads to get England's response under way.

Zak Crawley will open with Dom Sibley in the absence of Rory Burns, and Lasith Embuldeniya will get Sri Lanka going.

This is an awful performance by Sri Lanka in conditions set up for them.

Sam Limbert: Shame in a way that Sri Lanka have been bundled out like that, but waking up during lockdown to some hilarious cricket like that has been a welcome joy.

Chet 27: Sri Lanka could bat 3 times and England would still win by an innings.

I am looking out at the bus stand outside the ground and that is giving me more interest. An awful batting display. Sri Lanka don't seem to know what they are doing. They have not been ready to apply themselves.

The good thing is, the comedy doesn't have to end here - it is not beyond England's capabilities to play some very funny shots on a pitch that is turning a little bit.

This is beyond England's wildest dreams. Some of those wickets will live long in the memory for all sorts of wrong reasons.

    Cheers, Callum.

You know, in these troubled, difficult times, it's good to know that some things can still bring us together. And that thing is some comedy cricket and a general sense of disbelief at what is going on in the middle. Extraordinary scenes.

I'm going for a lie down in a dark room. Mickey Arthur will probably be doing the same.

Amy Lofthouse will take you through the remainder of the day. Let's hope England show more application than the hosts.

It doesn't matter how you get them. It is another five-wicket haul for Bess.

    England will be absolutely delighted.

I saw some of Sri Lanka's series in South Africa and they look like they're in a spin. They don't look like they know how to build an innings.
