    One area I don't think England have improved is catching. You see great agility and see some incredible catches but basic catches, ones you expect to be taken nine times out of 10, England drop quite a few and have done for a long period in Test match cricket.

    Today was the England old way in Test cricket. The collapse, they didn't bowl as well, particularly the spinners and dropped a crucial catch. It wasn't a brilliant day for England. But I expect them to bounce back tomorrow.

    Will Jones: Jos Buttler has just proved today why he is in this England team. Unnecessary pressure being put on him for his glove work. He plays all 3 formats and is one of England’s most gifted players. Outstanding with the gloves today

It would have been nice to get a couple more wickets tonight but that one late on is a real bonus for us. It gives us a great opportunity in morning to apply a lot of pressure and hammer home what is a strong advantage in this game."

    Dom Bess has bowled far too short. I would say to him "if you bowl a full toss or get hit down the ground I am not bothered". You have got to err on the side of full.

    I think he has been better in the second innings than the first but they have played him better.

  9. 'It's a strange-looking wicket'

    Sam Curran on TMS: "We spoke about how it is not going to happen like it did in the first innings. We said they would fight back which are doing. Fair play to them. They played really well. A great wicket for Leachy at the end.

    "It is a strange-looking wicket. It played a bit better than we thought this evening. It didn't offer much for the seamers and there was real slow turn for the spinners. The two openers played really well."

    Sri Lanka came back really well. Not many gave us much hope of doing so.

    The wickets gave them a boost in the morning session and the opening partnership was really good. They have shown fight and discipline.

    A fascinating day's cricket. Most people expected Sri Lanka to crumble, not necessarily all out today but not to offer much resistance.

    Sri Lanka really have fought back well. It is good to see. If weather plays a factor and there is some resistance from the lower order this could bubble into an exciting finish.

    Lasith Embuldeniya is called through for a tight - very tight - single and the ball is heading to Curran. If Curran can collect it then it'd be a close call but the ball ends up spinning past his outstretched hand.
