Talking of Dom Bess, he's back on.
Can he find a consistent line and length in this spell?

Based on the last two hours I would mentally prepare yourself to watch Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli put on 452 for the third wicket in a few weeks' time.

Bess not been impressive in either innings despite the five-for. Leach marginally better. Doesn't bode well for the India tour.

Brilliant shot. It is a slow wicket but Wood is quick. Perera is exciting. He is good to watch.

Shot! It's dug in by Mark Wood but Kusal Perera plays it well, and pulls it to the square leg boundary. Dom Sibley was patrolling the boundary but nowhere near it, it was hit that well.
It was worth a try from Wood because nothing else has worked.
Mark Wood is back in to the attack to replace Jack Leach.
He only bowled two overs in his first spell.

I visited Sri Lanka a few years ago... On our safari, we failed to spot any moose. Very disappointed.

Just a single from Joe Root's sixth over.
There's an appeal for caught behind off the last ball but it's half-hearted.
England need something here.

Mark Burt: SL have been superb second dig. Heart, application and clearly able to accept and absorb a Mickey Arthur rollicking.

Lovely shot! Kusal Perera gets forward and just leans on a straight drive, but the outfield is so slow because of all the rain we've had, so he only gets three.
Half a chance for England, but it would be a blinder, as Perera tries to turn into the on side and it just hits Jonny Bairstow at short leg.
It doesn't stop Jack Leach putting his head in his hands.

Dan Hill: I think this is what we all dreaded. When the opposite vaguely applies themselves I'm not convinced our spinners have the quality to take 10, let alone 20 wickets.

Joe Root has looked England's most likely spinner so far.
He gets one to spin out of the rough, past the attempted sweep from Lahiru Thirimanne, but it's untidy from England and the opener runs through for a bye.

Fair play to these two. Perera is going well but he always has that wild shot in him.
A single apiece keeps the scoreboard ticking along for Sri Lanka.
The deficit is slowly creeping down. It's at 226 now.
I didn't expect England to have to bat again, but maybe they will have to.

There is a bit of chirp going on. It is a team that is trying to get under the batsman's skin.
England have found next to no spin so far in this innings.
Dom Sibley and, as you'd expect, Jonny Bairstow are doing their best to encourage England around the bat, but it is all a bit flat.
Tea is around 45 minutes away. Joe Root would love a breakthrough before then.

Perera picked the right ball for the six but you can see he is trying to keep going. It is important he stays for a long partnership.

Perera is putting a bit of pressure back on the England spinners.

Kusal Perera then gets down on one knee and slog sweeps Jack Leach to the boundary. Sri Lanka look comfortable.
To slightly cheer you up, Sam Curran has just tried to get some birds to fly away, off the outfield, by flapping his cap at them. It didn't go too well for him.
Shot!
Jack Leach lands one in the rough but Kusal Perera uses his feet well and plants him over the mid-wicket rope.
