Has Ishant Sharma hit wicket here?

This would sum up India's five days to be honest.

  2. Ind 187-9published at 56.4 overs

    Target 420

Ishant Sharma does superbly to dig out a brilliant yorker from Jofra Archer.

    Archer and Joe Root laugh.

Look at this margin of victory, 240-odd runs if they wrap this up quickly, that's a huge margin for England to beat India in Chennai on a turning pitch. Having just arrived and no real preparation. It will be a massive margin of victory.

India have got a lot of things to work on now, not least that they've got to wake up. There might be a hangover from what happened in Australia. But have to be honest, there's been a lot of mistakes. India have been below par in this match.

Mikey: I have nothing else to do today, can we slow it down and drag it out to the last session?

Pat Duckworth: Grateful to England’s cricketers for going slow yesterday so there’s BBC Cricket Social to listen to while snuggled down in bed this morning!

  6. Ind 187-9published at 56 overs

    Target 420

    This might not last long.

Jasprit Bumrah hoicks his first ball to the mid-wicket boundary, before trying a slog sweep, that runs away for four byes, from his second.

Leach looks disappointed - he knows he may not get the chance to get another over.

Jack Leach has four and England have nine!

Superb again from Leach. There's drift in and then a bit of spin away and it catches Shahbaz Nadeem's edge, and ricochets off Jos Buttler's pad to Rory Burns in the gully. Burns does well to parry it up and take it at the second attempt.

    England are one wicket away.

You look at this pitch and think in some ways it was tailor made for Stuart Broad, the way he attacks the stumps and gets that invariable bounce.

  9. Ind 179-8published at 55 overs

    Target 420

This pitch is horrible to bat on now. England will be extremely glad they won the toss, and they were definitely right to not enforce the follow-on. If they were left with any sort of chase on this it would have been difficult.

There was a huge explosion of dust for that Kohli wicket and the ball keeps reasonably low to Ishant Sharma twice as well.

Kohli is shaking his head. That really is the death nail as far as India are concerned. There was not a huge amount he could have done about that.

He hasn't got a century and from England's perspective, even though they will win the game, they wouldn't have wanted him to get a morale-boosting hundred.

Is that the game? Another beauty!

There's a little bit of in-movement from Ben Stokes, and it sneaks under Virat Kohli's bat, and crashes into the stumps. England have targeted the stumps really well today.

Kohli batted really well but he can't pull off a miracle.

Virat Kohli moves to 72 with a well placed guide down to the third man boundary.

    LeachImage source, BCCI

Jack Leach is getting plenty on the ball now. One rears up off a length and Jos Buttler, who does superbly to take is clearly, is knocked backwards in surprise.

Shahbaz Nadeem doesn't look entirely comfortable as he twice pops up in defence, just to the right of Ollie Pope at silly point. It would take something very special to catch, though.

    That will be drinks.

Yes, in case you didn't know Jos Buttler is returning to England after this Test as part of a wider rest and rotation programme England are operating.

This year is very busy with 18 Tests, and a Twenty20 World Cup, so England are keen to look after their players physically and mentally with the fatigue and difficulty of cricket in bio-secure bubbles.

Surrey's Ben Foakes is set to come in and take his place.

Virat Kohli is not going to give his wicket away. He's going to dig in as much as possible and, if he's given a bad ball, he'll put it away.
