I have seen people saying this week Ollie Pope should be dropped so that Ben Foakes and Jos Buttler can play in the same England team long-term. Not for me. He may have been short of runs last summer but I see him as England's best young player.

    He'll probably get out now.

The way Stokes walked from the field shaking his head suggested to me he won't miss this pitch. Ashwin must want to roll it up and keep it forever. He has eight wickets in the match, as well as a hundred. Here's a rare moment for England to cheer as Root reverse sweeps the off-spinner to the boundary.

Does Jon Bon Jovi like cricket? One of life's mysteries. I say England don't have a prayer, and they don't, but they do have a Pope, Ollie. He's the new batsman.

Root gets through a maiden of Ishant Sharma's reverse swing.

India are halfway there. England don't have a prayer.

    WICKETpublished at 38 overs

    Stokes c Kohli b Ashwin 8 (Eng 90-5)

Ben Stokes' resistance ends after 50 deliveries as Ravichandran Ashwin nabs his second wicket of the day. Stokes is thoroughly unimpressed. He's shaking his head all the way back to the dressing room.

It was a ball that didn't spin, took the inside edge and looped to gully off the pad.

I haven't mentioned the weather, have I? It's not going to happen for England today, I'm afraid. I've checked and there are actually more clouds forecast in the Sahara today. Stokes is digging in.

I know Rishabh Pant isn't the tallest but he has just taken a ball from Ashwin by his left ear. A remarkable take and remarkable bounce. Root is joking, asking if that counts as one short ball for the over. It only pitched a few feet in front of Stokes' big boot but climbed past his chest.

England have survived an hour. It's a small victory, I'll admit.

Ishant is full, searching for one that hits Root's front pad. Root has changed his bat. I hope the one he dispensed with isn't the bat he scored his three big hundreds with before this match. It probably is. Cheteshwar Pujara, not the most athletic, looks absolutely thrilled by his own good fielding.

  19. Brazil's World Cup bidpublished at 04:54 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2021

Remember the story of Liam Cook, the Englishman coaching the Brazil women's team? Well, Brazil are now looking to other sports in their bid to reach the Women's T20 World Cup.

They have enlisted the help of Tatiele Carvalho, who reached the final of the 10,000m at the Rio Olympics to help with the their fitness.

While Carvalho looks to qualify for the Tokyo Games, she will help prepare Brazil for the T20 World Cup qualifier, which takes place in the USA in September. Brazil and Argentina will be taking part for the first time, joining the hosts and Canada.

They've also got support from the Universe Boss...

India need six wickets to win

Stokes has a look of dismay on his face. I'm not sure he's enjoying this particularly, missing more balls than he hits. Ashwin serves up a full toss and England's all-rounder misses that too.
