About 14 overs or so left in the day, I think?
James Anderson has the ball in his hand. Let's go.
Anderson dismisses Gill in first over of India's reply
Stokes the only batsman to pass 50 as England bowled out for 205
Returning Lawrence makes 46 batting at seven
Axar Patel takes 4-68; Ashwin 3-47

India might come out and get bowled out for 140...
I fear that England are going to be in for a long few days. This is a decent batting track.

Well there appears one positive out of today: we may get to a third day?

That's not good enough. You win the toss, the pitch is decent and you've got to score at least 300.
Plus side: England passed 200.
Down side: They were nine wickets down at the time.
Considering that they've brought in players to pad out the batting, that... is not a great return.
Leach lbw b Ashwin 7 (Eng 205 all out)
Three reds. England are all out for 205.
Canny variation from Ravichandran Ashwin, the ball going on while Jack Leach plays for the spin.
The ball misses the bat by miles and Leach is trapped plumb in front.
Another pretty dismal display from the tourists - all out on day one.

This looks very out to me.
Jack Leach gets forward, misses it and is hit on the pad.
Finger raised. Looks out. But Leach may as well review...

James: Good job England picked 5 spinners in their team: Leach, Bess, Root, Lawrence and Sibley.
Jack Leach inside edges Axar Patel onto his front pad, but the ball ends up plopping safely down at his toes.

On this surface you'd want a seam bowler at the other end with James Anderson. But will Ben Stokes be fit to open the bowling with his stomach problem?
I believe this is called celebrating the small victories where you can.
Jack Leach gets a full toss and bunts it for four and, at long, long last, England go beyond 200 in this series. The last time they went past 200 was when Joe Root himself made 200. And that was in the first innings of the first Test.

Phil Blundell: Bang goes the theory of packing the team full of batsmen and getting a big score to defend!
Ashwin finds the outside edge of Anderson's bat, but it goes on the bounce to one of the many close fielders.
A single takes England to 199...
We've got some news from the England camp - Jofra Archer is not playing in this Test match due to his ongoing right elbow issue.
Ben Stokes has had an upset stomach, the same issue that has affected other members of the touring party. It is not expected to keep him off the field.
James Anderson's reverse sweep is one of my favourite things.
He picks up a boundary for his troubles and then nabs a single to keep the strike. Could England just about get themselves over the 200 mark?

We don't need to see India batting on this surface to already know they will deal with it better and score more. It now feels a long time since that first innings of the first Test.

We are seeing some crafty bowling. But also a batting side that has lost all confidence in playing spin bowling. They are struggling mentally.
Axar Patel's averaege is 10.41 after three Test matches. I mean. That's remarkable.
Meanwhile, England nearly contrive to end things with a comedy run out, but Jimmy Anderson is able to charge home after a bit of "yes, no, OK, go!" between him and Jack Leach.
