  2. Australia set New Zealand 157 to win seriespublished at 07:36 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2021

In the fourth Twenty20 between New Zealand and Australia in Wellington the Aussies have finished on 156-6.

Australia lost regular wickets, with captain Aaron Finch top-scoring with 79 off 55 balls. The right-hander hit Kyle Jamieson for four sixes in the final over - three of them successive with two going over cover and one over long-on.

The opener also overtook David Warner to become Australia's all-time leading run-scorer in T20 cricket.

Ish Sodhi was the pick of the Kiwi bowlers taking 3-32 from his four overs.

The pitch is far from easy - it is a bit two-paced and offering some spin so the chase won't be straightforward for Kane Williamson's side.

Joe Root has conceded more runs in this over than he did in his entire spell in the last Test.

Rishabh Pant does not want Root to settle. Down the track, six over long-off. Nine off the over. This stand is worth 41.

Dom Bess didn't manage to get into any sort of rhythm. There must be something not quite working in his action.

Dom Bess, who has a huge smear of dirt across almost the entire back of his shirt, is off. Joe Root is on.

I once had a hand double. I was doing some filming and had to leave in a rush and there was a scene where my hands were needed, so they used someone else. I think the red nail varnish gave the game away...

Why on earth do actors need hand doubles? What is the risk of using your own hands? It reminds me of Joey's identical hand twin in Friends. "This hand is your hand..."

That's Pant's best stroke, a drive off Anderson through the covers for four. India's ship feels more steady.

That's good from Bess, with Rohit almost popping one up to Ollie Pope at short leg. Rohit, though, is unflustered, walking a single up to long-on. Bess has taken his shades off. It's a better over as a result.

England just need to be patient. The chances will come but they can't push for it, otherwise they'll leak runs.

A part in Indiana Jones will take some beating.

That's lovely from Rohit, a crunching jab through the covers off Anderson for four. Rohit has inched his way to 47. In the context of the game, his vigil is looking crucial.

When I was in my teens I was an extra in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The scene where they burn the books and Harrison Ford bumps into Hitler was filmed at Stowe school and they wanted a dozen local lads to play Hitler youth. And there I am.

Bess is behind a pair of big shades, but frustration is etched on his face. A half-volley is driven through the covers for four by Rohit. Bess gets a word from Joe Root, who walks away deep in thought.

I spent the English winter/NZ summer of 01/02 playing for a club about an hour north of Wellington, and was in attendance when Peter Jackson summoned the crowd to provide sound effects. Don't remember there being an overwhelming response (and I'm yet to receive any royalties).

Anderson has an Andy Murray-style brace on his left ankle and a white towel tucked into the back of his trousers. More control, more dots. Pant plays back a maiden. Anderson has 2-11 from 15 overs. Tighter than tight.

If Bess keeps on giving away four or five runs an over, with England's lead just over 100 runs - how long can they afford to keep him going?

  19. Ind 96-4published at 07:08 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2021

It's actually a bit tough to watch Dom Bess bowl at the moment. A long hop to Rohit and a full toss to Pant go unpunished, but there's no pressure. England's problem is they have altered their balance for the extra batsman.
