Ed Hurst: Leach, Stokes, Jimmy, Root & others at times have bowled well this series. Head-to-head, we've done as well as the Indian attack who are in conditions they know much better. If only we could say the same about our batting. It's been Indian v England's bowlers + Root.

A rare tempter from Ben Stokes, speared a little full outside off stump, and a grateful Anjiyka Rahane clatters it through the covers for four.

Rahane sends an awkward slice up and just over the head of mid-wicket for a couple, before Stokes' final ball swings back into Rahane by an absolute mile.

  3. Ind 55-3published at 32 overs

Short from Jack Leach, and Ajinkya Rahane is so quick to rock back and hoick it through deep mid-wicket for four.

Paul Hawkins: Brilliant start from England's bowlers, giving nothing away but long way to go. India bat deep. Then England have to (gulp) bat

Rohit Sharma is thankfully fine to continue, and he can watch from the opposite end as Ben Stokes swings a couple of deliveries past Ajinyka Rahane.

  6. ouch!

    Ind 49-3published at 30.3 overs

Rohit Sharma has a swing at a short ball from Ben Stokes, misses, and ends up deflecting it off the top of his helmet for a couple of byes.

Out comes the physio. Rohit has a huge smile on his face as he goes through the checks.

    Where's that come from?

Huge bounce for Jack Leach, the ball bursting off the pitch, and Ben Foakes ends up taking it mid-air from behind the stumps. Stokes appeals for something at slip - I've no idea what, it would have been amazing skills from Rohit to actually hit that - and Foakes whips the bails off for good measure.

  10. Ind 47-3published at 29.4 overs

Shot! Rohit Sharma has a go at breaking the shackles with a shimmy down the pitch and a lofted drive for four.

Jack Leach responds with another delivery that turns sharply, and earns a nod of approval from Rohit. Leach's accuracy has improved hugely over this winter.

  11. Ind 43-3published at 29 overs

Stokes is furious with himself as he doesn't make Rahane play at one ball in another very good over. Maiden.

Michael Dobson: I think it’s fair to say that for all the problems on this tour, Jack Leach has been the star vs an outstanding batting line-up in their own backyard.

Just quietly, and I'm aware that there probably is another innings to go, but Kohli is averaging just 28.66 in this series.

Ajinkya Rahane gets himself off the mark with a leisurely single off Jack Leach.

Yes - Kohli's face whenever he gets out. His reaction to being bowled in the first Test remains my favourite thing. Meme worthy.

That's also two ducks for Virat Kohli in this series...

Worthy reward for Ben Stokes, who has toiled away admirably this morning.

An eight-ball duck for Virat Kohli!

Another wonderful short ball from Ben Stokes, and another absolute picture of disbelief from Kohli as he walks off. Stokes bent his back - not easy in these humid conditions - and the ball carried on rising as Kohli fenced outside his off stump. A good catch from Ben Foakes, too, coming to him at around shoulder height, and there's silence as Kohli walks off. Now then!

  20. Ind 41-2published at 26.2 overs

Close! Rohit Sharma goes driving, doesn't get all of the ball and sends it on the bounce to Ollie Pope at point. England have done extremely well in limiting the runs this morning.
