HAMPSHIRE DRAW WITH GLOUCESTERSHIREpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 25 April 2021
    Breaking

    Hampshire 470 v Gloucestershire 320 & 197-9 (f/o)

They've called it a day in Southampton and after four days of play it all ends in a draw.

Both sides had won their opening two games in Group Two so something had to give and in the end they will share the spoils.

It had looked as though Hampshire were going to force the win in the evening session but Glos owe a debt of gratitude to Josh Shaw and Dominic Goodman who just wouldn't budge for that all-important tenth wicket.

    Hampshire 470 v Gloucestershire 320 & 193-9 (f/o)

Still no joy for Hampshire with Josh Shaw and Dominic Goodman really digging-in for Gloucestershire.

When Glos lost three wickets without scoring a run earlier this evening it looked very much like Hampshire were in for a simple run-chase to grab a late win.

But this rearguard action is really slowing things up for them in Southampton and the West Country side now have a fairly sizeable lead (at this stage of proceedings) of 43.

There are a minimum of six overs remaining.

So that just leaves us with the one match remaining between Hampshire and Gloucestershire.

  5. WARWICKSHIRE BEAT ESSEXpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Warwickshire (284 & 256-3) beat Essex (295 & 244) by seven wickets

Rob Yates hits the winning run for Warwickshire, his home county, to finish unbeaten on 120.

Brilliant innings, fantastic chase from the Bears.

For Essex, it's their first defeat in first-class cricket in 22 games - a run stretching back to the start of the 2019 season.

  6. Five needed off two overspublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Warwickshire 251-3 (target 256) v Essex

Five off two overs. That's what it's come down to at Edgbaston.

    Tense.

  7. DURHAM DRAW WITH DERBYSHIREpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 25 April 2021
    Breaking

    Durham (475 & 175-2) draw with Derbyshire (267 & 280-5)

WICKETpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Hain c S Cook b Walter 60 (Warwickshire 244-3, target 256 v Essex)

    Now then.

Probably too late for Essex but Sam Hain is gone, caught in the deep off Paul Walter.

Warwickshire need 12 more for victory off 21 balls.

  9. 14 needed off four overspublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Warwickshire 242-2 (target 256) v Essex

Simon Harmer restricts the Bears to just a couple of singles.

A boundary would calm things for the hosts, but this should still be a cakewalk.

  10. NORTHANTS WIN BY SEVEN WICKETSpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 25 April 2021
    Breaking

    Northants 364 & 357-3 v Glamorgan 407 & 311-5 dec

    They've done it!

Northants are over the line to complete a very impressive victory, spearheaded by Ricardo Vasconcelos who carried his bat on 185*.

Glamorgan declared with a lead in excess of 350 but Northants set about the run-chase superbly and Vasconcelos, alongside Rob Keogh (126*) quickly took the game away from Glamorgan as they afternoon and evening wore on.

A sweet victory in the spring sunshine for the men from Northampton!

  11. 16 needed off five overspublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Warwickshire 240-2 (target 256) v Essex

The runs are coming easily now.

Five off Simon Harmer's over, followed by six from Paul Walter's.

What a victory this will be for Warwickshire - their second tricky chase in a row after making 333-7 to beat Notts last week.

  12. Postpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Durham v Derbyshire 267-5 (8 overs remain)

Harvey Hosein and Brooke Guest's hour at the crease should be enough for Derbyshire now.

The game at Chester-le-Street seems certain to end in a draw.

  13. Postpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Hampshire 470 v Gloucestershire 320 & 178-9 (f/o)

    The frustration continues for Hampshire.

Gloucestershire have made three runs in the last four overs but Josh Shaw and Dominic Goodman are proving a hard nut to crack.

The lead is 28 but much more of this and Hampshire might start running out of overs.

  14. 50 runs

for Hainpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Warwickshire 226-2 (target 256) v Essex

    Middled!

Sam Hain whips a straight one from Jamie Porter straight over mid-wicket for six.

It brings up an excellent half-century for the right-hander.

    30 needed.

  15. Postpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Northants 364 & 337-3 (target 355) v Glamorgan 407 & 311-5

Ricardo Vasconcelos moves on to 176 as Northants cruise within 18 runs of victory.

It had looked an unlikely run-chase at one point but in the end they're going to get there with room to spare.

  16. 36 needed off eight overspublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Warwickshire 220-2 (target 256) v Essex

Rob Yates jabs Simon Harmer through mid-wicket for his 12th boundary, to go with a six off the spinner earlier.

He's up to 105. 36 more needed off 48 balls.

  17. Postpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Hampshire 470 v Gloucestershire 320 & 178-9 (f/o)

Hampshire are still looking for that final wicket at Southampton.

Josh Shaw is on 12 not out and Dominic Goodman has faced 18 balls without troubling the scorer.

Gloucestershire lead by 28 and Hampshire won't want to see that total go up by too much more.

    They're hanging in there.

  18. 100 runs

for Yatespublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Warwickshire 215-2 (target 256) v Essex

This is looking like a match-winning knock from Warwickshire opener Rob Yates.

The left-hander goes to his century off 202 balls as he punches Jamie Porter down the ground for four.

Born just down the road in Solihull, the 21-year-old is surely taking his side to victory.

  19. 45 needed off 10 overspublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Warwickshire 211-2 (target 256) v Essex

Five off Simon Harmer's over, including a three through the covers to take Rob Yates to 95.

With eight wickets in hand, 45 off 60 balls shouldn't be too much to ask for the Bears.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Keogh c Cooke b Lloyd 126 (Northants 364 & 326-3 (target 355) v Glamorgan 407 & 311-5)

David Lloyd has finally broken-up the partnership as he finds the edge of Rob Keogh's bat allowing Chris Cooke to take the catch.

A welcome boost for Glamorgan but it really does feel as though that's too little too late as Keogh and Vasconcelos (166*) put on a massive 239 for the third wicket and have taken this game away from the Welsh side.
