    Lunch: Warwickshire 48-1 (target 256) v Essex

    Paul Newton
    BBC Essex sport

Warwickshire go to lunch on 48-1 needing 256 to win with a minimum further 67 overs available.

Essex's last wicket occupied a further 12 overs this morning before Jamie Porter was lbw to Briggs for 11 leaving Simon Harmer 82 not out.

Skipper Will Rhodes was caught behind off Sam Cook for 11 but Hanuma Vihari and Rob Yates saw Warwickshire reach 48-1 at the interval.

  18. 'Durham will need to be patient'published at 13:29 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Lunch: Durham 475 & 175-2 dec v Derbyshire 267 & 87-2 (target 384)

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

I predicted this morning this would be a long hard day of cricket. And so far it has proved to be so.

Derbyshire used the heavy roller before play began. Durham found to their cost at Trent Bridge two weeks ago how difficult it can be to get all 10 wickets on the final day when the heavy roller has been used. Notts only lost five on that occasion and so far today Derbyshire have lost only two.

Luis Reece was in obstinate mood and eventually faced 110 balls before he was given out lbw to Scott Borthwick in the 32nd over. It was a breakthrough Durham needed and came about 20 minutes before lunch. He made 32.

Prior to that the only other wicket to fall was Tom Wood, who was unexpectedly bowled by Ben Raine in the 19th over. He lost his middle stump on 25 during a period of play in which nothing seemed to be troubling the batsmen.

There are 64 overs left and I still believe we will be here well after tea. Durham certainly have their work cut out if they are to take the remaining eight wickets. They will need to be patient and hope it pays off.

  19. 'Hants may run out of time'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 25 April 2021

    Lunch: Hampshire 47- v Gloucs 320 & 67-3 (f/o)

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent

Hampshire started the day needing all 10 Gloucestershire second innings wickets, and in the process, hoping they wouldn't get too far ahead if at all.

The first 50 minutes were quiet, then 'bang, bang'

First of all Chris Dent went to a fine juggling catch at slip by Liam Dawson, then in the next over Kraigg Brathwaite holed out to mid-on off Dawson.

If you think I haven't mentioned the left arm spinner enough in this short piece, well, he had James Bracey caught at slip driving out of the rough.

Wickets are still hard to come by if batsmen are only focused on defense. But depending on who you suppor t- Gloucs are nowhere near safe yet, Hampshire may still run out of time.
