for Sam Evanspublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Glos v Leics 248-3

In a week when much has been written about the demise of University cricket, Loughborough graduate Sam Evans reaches a second century of the season.

251 balls and 13 fours to put his side firmly in control.

A Chinese cut helped him along the way but there was also a lovely cover drive shortly before getting to a hundred.

    Somerset v Middlesex 302-6

Middlesex go past 300 at Taunton to earn a third batting bonus point.

up for Sussexpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Lancs v Sussex 303-7

Lancashire have taken two wickets with the second new ball but Sussex have pressed on to 300 and a third batting bonus point.

If the lower order plays well, there may be a fourth in the offing.

But a wicket has never been too far away today at Hove and Sussex haven't produced a stand to define the day.

  9. Overton breaks standpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Somerset v Middlesex 294-6

Every time Middlesex have looked like getting away from Somerset today, they've taken a wicket.

This time Craig Overton pins Martin Andersson lbw for 38.

10 overs remain in the day at Taunton.

  10. It's rainingpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Glam 43-2 v Kent 138

Glamorgan were beginning to build a calm reply but rain has halted their progress in Cardiff.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Cook b Joseph 115 (Worcs v Essex 210-2)

Make that two wickets in seven sessions!

Alastair Cook chops Alzarri Joseph on and the Essex opener is on his way for an excellent 115.

Both wickets have now been taken by the big West Indian.

  12. 50 runs

for Westleypublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Worcs v Essex 210-1

The runs continue to flow at New Road.

Essex captain Tom Westley reaches fifty. Alastair Cook is unbeaten on 115.

Worcestershire have taken just one wicket in almost seven sessions on their home turf now.

  13. 50 runs

for Lewis Hillpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Glos v Leics 208-3

Lewis Hill is one of the form players in the country.

He goes to a fifth half-century of the season - with a 47 in their too.

But he hasn't converted any of those fifties with a top score of 70.

91 balls, five fours and a six here.

  14. Postpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Lancs v Sussex 275-6

It will be very interesting to hear what both sides make of this day.

On paper, it looks like Sussex have wasted a chance to get well on top in the game.

Five batsmen have passed 30 but there's no defining score on the card and Lancashire have chipped away throughout the day.

Latest to fall is Ben Brown, driving over a full ball from Danny Lamb to fall lbw for 42.

Certainly looking at the dismissals, it appears there haven't been many genuine wicket-taking deliveries today.

  15. Postpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Durham 37-0 v Warwickshire 87

It's amazing how batting becomes so much easier when you've bowled a side out for a low total in the first innings.

Like at The Oval, Durham are now enjoying themselves in the Chester-le-Street sunshine. Openers Will Young and Alex Lees have taken Durham to within 50 of the Bears.

  16. Postpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Derbys 0-0 v Notts 256

Stuart Broad takes the new ball for Notts.

Can the England fast bowler give his side a boost late in the day after their batting collapse?

  17. Bad light stops playpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Surrey 131-1 v Hants 92

They're going off for bad light at The Oval with Surrey in complete command.

Rory Burns and Hashim Amla walk off with unbeaten half-centuries. It's probably come at a good time for Hants. Time to regroup.

  18. 200 runs

up for Leicestershirepublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Glos v Leics 200-3

I think Gloucestershire might be regretting their decision at the toss.

Bowl first is often the way at Bristol but there's been little in it all day and Sam Evans and Lewis Hill have brought up a first batting point.

The scoring has been kept largely in check throughout the day but the visitors have been moving the board on a little more freely in the past half hour.

  19. wicket

Notts all outpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Derbys v Notts 256

Well, that all ended pretty quickly.

Liam Patterson-White, Luke Fletcher and Stuart Broad are all dismissed in the space of eight balls to finish the Notts innings.

They've gone from 194-2 to 256 all out. Some collapse.

  20. 50 runs

for Amlapublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Surrey 124-1 v Hants 92

Hashim Amla joins Rory Burns in going to fifty.

The former South Africa batsman cuts Mohammad Abbas to the rope to get there off 76 balls.

Surrey's lead is 32 and growing rapidly.
