    Yorks 137-6 v Northants

Yorkshire's little fightback has been put down.

A lazy back-foot drive from Jonny Tattersall gives a catch to third slip and a second wicket to Ben Sanderson.

    Ends a sixth-wicket stand of 57.

Middlesex batsman Robbie White reaches fifty at Taunton.

The visitors have lost John Simpson since tea, caught by James Hildreth off Tom Lammonby, but White has continued to guide their first innings.

    Lancs v Sussex 260-5

    They've done it again.

Sussex look to be moving into the ascendency only to be pegged back.

    And it's another shocker.

Just like Stiaan van Zyl earlier in the day, Delray Rawlings has cut Matt Parkinson off the back foot and into the off side ring.

He's out for 42 in the over before the second new ball is due. Criminal.

    Labuschagne b Stevens 11 (Glam 33-2 v Kent 138)

    Big wicket in Cardiff.

Marnus Labuschagne playing outside the line of one and trapped lbw by Darren Stevens for just 11.

I thought the Dazzler might enjoy this deck and he's taken both Glamorgan wickets so far.

    Worcs v Essex 183-1

First-class century number 68 for Alastair Cook!

The Essex opener nudges a single off Dillon Pennington to get there off 231 balls. It's been a classic Cook innings, plenty of lovely strokes through the off side, punishment of anything on his legs.

Tom Westley has 40 at the other end in a stand worth 112.

    Yorks 137-5 v Northants

    How Yorkshire badly needed this.

A half-century stand between Jonny Tattersall and Dom Bess has brought them back from a disastrous 80-5.

Meanwhile at Hove, Sussex have a second batting point.

Delray Rawlings has launched Matt Parkinson's leg spin towards the Cromwell Road for six to take them to 252-4 against Lancashire.

    Durham 10-0 v Warwickshire 87

A slow and steady start for Durham openers Will Young and Alex Lees.

They've got all the time in the world after dismissing Warwickshire inside two sessions on the first day.

  8. Moores gone, in comes Broadpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Derbys v Notts 242-7

No sooner had I said that Tom Moores was counter-attacking for Notts he was out, caught at mid-off following a top edge.

It means Stuart Broad comes in at nine for the visitors.

  9. Postpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Lancs v Sussex 244-4

It's been a good day's cricket at Hove and Sussex are hoping to enjoy a decent final session to claim the day.

Ben Brown and Delray Rawlings have the makings of a useful stand.

Lancashire will hope the second new ball due shortly will bring them rewards.

  10. Postpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Derbys v Notts 242-6

Tom Moores is providing a nice little counter-attack for Notts after they lost those four quick wickets either side of tea.

The wicketkeeper has raced onto 26 off 34 balls.

Alastair Cook is into the 90s at New Road.

Probably not that 'nervous' for him any more with 67 first-class centuries under his belt.

    Can he make it 68?

  12. Postpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

As Surrey and Hampshire go to tea, a number of games are beginning their final sessions of day one.

Plenty more twists and turns to come I'm sure.

  14. 'Conditions very bowler friendly'published at 16:12 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Tea: Glamorgan 17-1 v Kent 138

    Ffion Wynne
    BBC Radio Wales

If there’s one player Glamorgan would want coming to the crease with the score at 1-1, it would be the third best Test batsman in the world, Marnus Labuschagne. The Australian number three only landed in Wales on Monday – but was straight into the action facing Darren Stevens under cloudy skies after Joe Cooke edged said bowler to slip for 0.

There was some concern earlier in the day after he hurt his hand and was off the field for part of the afternoon session, but returned to the slips after a short rain delay and goes to tea 10 not out, so it doesn’t seem like anything too worrying.

Earlier, David Lloyd took a first-class best of 4-11 and Timm van der Gugten 4-41 to bowl Kent all out for 138. Conditions were – and remain – very bowler-friendly, so still plenty of work to do for the home side.

  15. Surrey go past Hantspublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Surrey 94-1 v Hants 92

Surrey are now in front of Hampshire's first-innings total.

They'll want to make sure they only bat once in this game by getting a huge lead.

    Slater lbw b Critchley 107 (Derbys v Notts 205-6)

Nottinghamshire's batting collapse continues after tea!

Spinner Matt Critchley gets the prize scalp of Ben Slater, lbw, for 107.

Notts have gone from 194-2 to 205-6.

  17. 'Bears' lowest score against Durham'published at 16:07 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

Tea: Durham v Warwickshire 87 all out

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

In the end it took longer than most would have imagined, but Durham eventually dismissed Warwickshire, on the stroke of tea, for 87.

It's their lowest score against Durham in the County Championship. The previous worst was 100 in a rain-affected game in 2012. but things could have been a lot worse if Craig Miles (22) and Liam Norwell (25) hadn't put on 52 for the ninth wicket.

When they came together Warwickshire were 30-8.

The pick of the bowlers was Ben Raine who took five wickets while conceding just nine runs. And eight of his 13 overs were maidens. Mark Wood also took 3-28 and Brydon Carse 2-15. Incredibly Chris Rushworth, who is normally the mainstay of the Durham attack, recorded a blank afternoon.

There are 42 overs left in the day and the sun is out.

This is the first time Warwickshire have been dismissed for double figures since a game against Essex in 2017. It's their lowest total since Yorkshire bowled them out for 69 in 2015.

  18. 'Middlesex getting help from Somerset'published at 16:05 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Tea: Somerset v Middlesex 208-4

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Middlesex continue to dominate the first day at Taunton but not without a bit of help from the hosts.

Nick Gubbins has top scored with 75 but after being dropped at second slip when attempting a leave he eventually edged to the same position off Lewis Gregory and on this occasion Craig Overton made no mistake.

Peter Handscomb got off the mark as Middlesex captain with a crunching four and looked to be playing Jack Leach nicely until he ran himself out with a drive to the left hand of sub fielder Roelof van der Merve who made no mistake with on his favoured arm.

Max Holden was dropped three times on the way to 49 and Somerset will know they should be move advanced in the visitors innings having chosen to field this morning.

  19. 'Good session for Lancashire'published at 16:04 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Tea: Sussex 198-4 v Lancashire

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good session for Lancashire taking three wickets and restricting Sussex to 88 runs.

The excellent partnership of 133 for the Sussex second wicket was ended when Tom Haines was caught behind for 58 his fourth half century of the season.

Stiaan Van Zyl followed just 14 runs later cutting a long hop for Livingstone to Luke Wells at backward point.

Ben Brown and Tom Clark steadied the Sussex ship before Clark was out just before tea after a partnership of 44.

  20. 50 runs

for Burnspublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Surrey 87-1 v Hants 92

Surrey's dominant opening day continues at The Oval as captain Rory Burns goes to fifty.

It's the England opener's third half-century in six innings this season.

They trail Hampshire by just five as they approach tea.
