    Yorks 0-1 v Northants

    England captain Joe Root is sitting out Yorkshire's game against Northamptonshire as they seek a third win in succession.

    The ECB have asked for Root to be rested.

    Yorkshire have lost Adam Lyth to a Diamond Duck - Ben Sanderson with the wicket, first delivery of the match.

    Essex were one of only a couple of sides who chose to bat this morning.

    Nick Browne and Alastair Cook are getting things under way for the defending champions at New Road.

    But the England paceman will have to wait for a bowl, his side are batting first.

    Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater, who put on an unbroken 236, to save the game at Worcestershire on Sunday are in the middle.

    Lancashire lead Group Three, with Yorkshire second. Both have won two and drawn one of their opening three matches.
