    Worcs v Essex 40-0

Worcestershire v EssexImage source, Rex Features

I'm not sure Worcestershire are particularly enjoying bowling at their own ground at the moment.

After failing to take a wicket on the final day of their game against Notts, Essex openers Alastair Cook and Nick Browne are frustrating them once again.

Essex will want a big total on the board first up.

    Durham v Warwickshire 1-0

And it's a maiden to start for Mark Wood. You won't be surprised to know that it's absolutely freezing at Chester-le-Street.

    Durham v Warwickshire 1-0

Mark Wood does indeed take the second over for Durham.

  4. Kent lose Bell-Drummondpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Glam v Kent 64-1

An excellent opening hour for Kent in Cardiff and Daniel Bell-Drummond using his wonderful wrists to take five of his six boundaries including a sweet cover drive off James Harris.

"Harry" making his return to Cardiff in the second game of his loan spell from Middlesex.

But Bell-Drummond has been done by a real goody from Timm van der Gugten that has nipped in off the seam.

    Durham v Warwickshire 0-0

They're under way after an hour's rain delay at Chester-le-Street.

Will Rhodes and last week's match-winner Rob Yates open up for the Bears.

Chris Rushworth takes the new ball for Durham. Will Mark Wood take it from the other end?

    Surrey v Hants 37-1

Surrey paceman Kemar Roach has removed Hampshire opener Joe Weatherley in what has been a fairly even opening hour at The Oval.

Ian Holland has been joined by Tom Alsop - both made centuries in the draw against Gloucestershire.

    Yorkshire 51-1 v Northants

Yorkshire are rebuilding well after losing Adam Lyth to the first ball of the match.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore has driven and cut Tom Taylor through cover-point and punched Ben Sanderson smartly down the ground.

Wayne Parnell has been pulled for four to raise fifty with Yorkshire going along at a good clip.

England paceman Mark Wood is making his first appearance of the season for Durham.

And it won't be long before we see him in action. Durham have won the toss and chosen to bowl.

    Worcs v Essex 24-0

It's definitely a hands in pockets sort of day for West Indies paceman Alzarri Joseph.

He's just come into the attack for Worcestershire as they search for a breakthrough.

    Derbys v Notts 40-2

Notts have just lost Ben Duckett, caught at slip off Fynn Hudson-Prentice, for 14.

Duckett's having a tough time of it this season - just 97 runs in six innings.

Meanwhile Joe Clarke has come in and just gone past 5,000 first-class runs with a boundary to get off the mark.

  11. Stiaan van Gower?published at 11:43 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Lancs v Sussex 46-1

Sussex would have been annoyed last week.

They had beaten Glamorgan and were well ahead of Yorkshire into the third innings of the game only to leave themselves too much to do in their run chase.

A challenge from the other side of the Pennines this week but a really confident start.

Stiaan van Gower, sorry Zyl, has just taken back-to-back boundaries off Tom Bailey with effortless cover drives.

    Worcs v Essex 11-0

    Alastair CookImage source, Rex Features

It's been a very quiet start at New Road for the Essex batsmen.

Alastair Cook has two off 24 balls.

Worcestershire's opening pair Charlie Morris and Dillon Pennington are giving nothing away.

  13. Play to start at 12:00 BSTpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

Durham v Warwickshire - start delayed, rain

Looks like they'll be getting under way in about 30 minutes at Chester-le-Street. Toss coming up in 10.

  14. Steady start for Kentpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Glam v Kent 31-0

It's been a tough start to the season for Kent.

A draw at Northants preceded home defeats to both Yorkshire and Lancashire by wide margins.

Such is the nature of the initial 10-match group stage, this week is almost a must-win for their hopes of qualifying for Division One in September.

A steady start having been sent in at Sophia Gardens.

James Humber: Good morning Kev, my beautiful new daughter Mae and I are listening to you from the neonatal ward this morning, hoping to get home soon and for a good day for Middlesex. Can confirm she hadn't cried since start of play (but has been asleep).

    Somerset v Middlesex 18-1

Somerset paceman Lewis Gregory has made an early breakthrough for the hosts at Taunton, removing Sam Robson.

The Middlesex opener was caught behind by a diving Steven Davies for six.

    Lancs v Sussex 21-1

Now this could get confusing if you aren't paying attention.

Lancashire v Sussex this week is at Hove not Old Trafford, despite being advertised the other way around.

These fixtures were switched after Hove's outfield was infested with daddy long-leg larvae when the game was due to take place in round one.

No James Anderson for Lancs but Tom Bailey has removed Aaron Thomason cheaply after the hosts chose to bat first.

    Glos v Leics 8-1

Dan Worrall has struck second ball of the match for Gloucestershire as they try to continue their excellent start to the season.

It's his 200th first-class wicket and Hassan Azad, a bright spot in a tough start for the Foxes, is gone quickly.

Marcus Harris, the Australian Test batsman, making his second appearance of the season, is now at the crease.

    Somerset v Middlesex 10-0

Somerset and Middlesex go into this week's match at Taunton following thumping victories against Leicestershire and Surrey respectively.

Max Holden and Sam Robson are opening for the visitors.

    Surrey v Hants 4-0

There's a really tasty Group Two fixture at The Oval.

Leaders Hampshire take on a Surrey side packed with internationals but still searching for a first win this season.

Hampshire were sent into bat and Joe Weatherley and in-form Ian Holland are in the middle.
