  3. Somerset declare at Bristolpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 300-8 dec

Clever thinking by Tom Abell, who hits two fours in three balls off Daniel Worrall to take Somerset's total to 300 and promptly declares.

Gloucestershire's batsmen will now face an awkward little session as the visitors try to pick up one or twio wickets whcih, they hope, may spark a collapse on the final day.

Abell finishes with 132 not out to his name, made from 287 balls and containing 16 boundaries. It's just three short of his highest first-class score.

Lewis Gregory's innings comes to an end at Bristol as Matt Taylor squeezes one between bat and pad and just clips the top of the bails.

Gregory put on 116 with Tom Abell and they are now just eight runs short of a third batting point.

  5. Postpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Essex 193-8 v Warwickshire 166

Slowly but surely Essex are building a small first-innings lead at Chelmsford.

SImon Harmer has 22 from 79 balls and their advantage is 27. Anything above 50 would be extremely handy.

Tom Abell has lifted his tempo since reaching three figures but that wasn't his most convincing stroke as he flashed at a wide one from Daniel Worrall and top edged it over first slip for four. Abell now has 125 and partner Lewis Gregory is on 53 - their partnership worth 112.

As we feared (see 17:57 entry), that is all at Canterbury for the day.

After seven inspections, just 38 balls were able to be bowled.

Glamorgan are 243 in arrears, but Kent's bowlers will need to bring about two collapses on the final day if they are to win this match.

The way Mark Stoneman and Rory Burns are going about this suggests Surrey want to set Middlesex a target on the final day.

Anything loose is being seized upon and the two left-handers have struck 12 boundaries between them so far.

The lead is now over 100 as Burns picks up three runs in Martin Andersson's opening over of the innings. In theory, there are 18 more to come.

Another fixture this season that has been heavily disrupted by rain.

Hampshire take 12 points from the game, Leicestershire 11 and Hants are still well in the mix to make it through the group stage.

Leicestershire are still winless in six games this season.

  14. Teams off again at Canterburypublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Kent 307 v Glamorgan 64-3

Glamorgan have added 13 for the loss of Joe Cooke, with Billy Root 26 not out and Kiran Carlson yet to score.

Root drove Darren Stevens through mid-off for four in the latest over but despite that, the umpires felt unable to continue.

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 267-7

Just moments after Tom Abell reached his century, Lewis Gregory cracks David Payne through the covers for four to reach 50 off 77 balls.

It has been a mixture of watchfulness and aggression and has helped put Somerset on top since slumping from 127-2 to 176-7.

  18. Postpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Surrey 190 & 55-0 v Middlesex 160
