  2. Postpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 223-7

Gloucestershire have taken the new ball. Things have calmed down a bit since those two Lewis Gregory sixes in one over off Matt Taylor.

Daniel Worrall begins a new spell and starts with a good over, costing him just two singles.

    Hants v Leics 1-0 (target 150)

Hassan Azad and Sam Evans begin a chase of 150 in 22 overs for Leicestershire.

  4. Patience rewarded at Canterburypublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Kent 307 v Glamorgan 55-2

After seven inspections, we are going to have some play at the Spitfire Ground - a maximum of 19.2 overs in fact, beginning at 17:20. That is, of course, dependent on no further rain and the light holding up.

  5. Wicket for Woodpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Derbys 198-6 v Durham

England fast bowler Mark Wood has just claimed his second wicket of the innings for Durham.

    The right-armer bowled Alex Hughes.

But he's been pretty expensive - 2-63 off 17 overs.

  6. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Essex 145-6 v Warwickshire 166

They're now at tea at Essex.

  7. Hants forfeit second inningspublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Leics 0-0 (target 150)

    Interesting!

Hampshire have forfeited their second innings and so Leicestershire will need 150 to win off 22 overs at The Ageas Bowl.

    Wasn't expecting that!

  8. 6 runs

Gregory in the moodpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 204-7

Perhaps we're in for some fun and games in the final session at Bristol.

Lewis Gregory pulls Matt Taylor over backward square for six, the bowler failing to learn the lesson of the previous over's boundary.

And the last ball of the over goes for another maximum over mid-wicket as Somerset collect their first batting point and pass 200. Gregory races to 21 not out, with Tom Abell now 80.

  9. Postpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 188-7

Matt Taylor, bowling round the wicket, drops short and Lewis Gregory pulls it away with authority for the first boundary of his innings.

There are 38 overs to go in the third day's play and Gregory now has six not out, with Somerset skipper Tom Abell on 79.

  10. Back on at Derbypublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Derbys 186-5 v Durham

The light has improved at Derby and they can begin the final session of day three.

  11. Leics all outpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Hants 233 v Leics 84

The ball after avoiding the follow-on Leicestershire are all out as Alex Evans nicks Brad Wheal behind.

This game will go through the motions to get through to a conclusion now.

    And that'll be tea.

  12. Foxes avoid the follow-onpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Hants 233 v Leics 84-9

Ed Barnes and Alex Evans have batted superbly and taken Leicestershire past the follow-on target.

That'll also secure a draw for the visitors at The Ageas Bowl with only 22 overs left in the game.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    James c D'Oliveira b Mitchell 78 (Notts 256-4 v Worcs)

Finally a first wicket of the day for Worcestershire!

Lyndon James top edges Daryl Mitchell into the leg side and Brett D'Oliveira takes the catch.

James falls one short of his career-best score after a partnership of 205 with Ben Duckett.

  14. Final session delayed at The Ovalpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Surrey 190 & 8-0 v Middlesex 160

The rain which forced the teams to take a slightly early tea has passed over and the umpires hope to begin the final session at 16:50. Surrey lead their London rivals by 38 with 10 wickets standing.

  15. Will we see play at Canterbury?published at 16:23 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Kent 307 v Glamorgan 55-2 - start delayed

You can't fault umpires James Middlebrook and Richard Illingworth for lack of resolve. We haven't seen a single ball bowled today but the players are still at the ground and the match officials will carry out their SEVENTH inspection of the day at 16:45.

  16. Play resumes at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Notts 255-3 v Worcs

The rain has cleared in Nottingham and they're back out after tea.

Ben Duckett and Lyndon James resume with their fourth-wicket stand worth 204.

40 overs left in the day, weather permitting.

Just down the road in Derby, they're still off for bad light.

  17. Rain ends play at Northamptonpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Northamptonshire v Lancashire 75-1

Huge disappointment at Wantage Road where another rain shower ends play early. Only 28.1 overs have been bowled in the game, 11.2 of them today, following a total washout on day two.

Alex Davies is 45 not out, Luke Wells is still on nought and the only batsman dismissed was Keaton Jennings, who edged Gareth Berg behind.

Even with two innings forfeits and a clear day on Sunday, you'd be hard pressed to conjure anything but a draw out of this one.

  18. Abell stands firm for Somersetpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 180-7 - tea

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset

Gloucestershire's afternoon, as Somerset lost five wickets in adding 75, two of the wickets down to batsman error, the other three to good bowling on a helpful pitch, Australian Dan Worrall picking up three of them.

That leaves Tom Abell once again doing his "boy stood on the burning deck, whence all but he had fled" act, having so far batted, for all but eight balls of this innings, displaying his habitual patience, application and skill in keeping his team's hopes of a batting point or two still just about alive.

  19. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Hants 233 v Leics 72-9

Brad Wheal has replaced Kyle Abbott - the first bowling change of this innings - to see if he can prize out Leicestershire's last wicket.

12 needed to avoid the follow-on.

  20. Postpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 22 May 2021

    Gloucestershire v Somerset 176-7

We have spin for the first time at Bristol as left-armer Tom Smith sends down a tidy maiden to Lewis Gregory. Weather permitting, we have 42 overs left in the day's play.
