  1. wicket

    Sodhi c Lintott b Lamb 13published at 16:44 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Bears 395, Pears 325-8

Warwickshire take an eighth Worcestershire wicket as Ish Sodhi holes out to Jake Lintott at deep mid-wicket off Matt Lamb.

Adam Finch joins Ed Barnard who is in sight of a fifth half-century of the season.

  2. 150 runs

150 stands for Sussex and Glamorganpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

Within a couple of minutes of each other, two pairs bring up 150 partnerships.

Sussex are motoring at 153-0 at Canterbury against Kent, whose Covid-hit makeshift squad are beginning to tire. Ali Orr has 89no and Tom Haines is unbeaten on 55.

In Cardiff, meanwhile, Kiran Carlson (89no) and Chris Cooke (68no) have stretched Glamorgan's lead to 98 over Northants at 313-4.

There's little for any of these four sides to play for in Group Three - other than jostling for positions and prize money - but they are still producing some fantastic cricket. Bravo.

  3. wicket

    Ashwin c Conway b Leach 0published at 16:31 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Surrey 178-5 v Somerset 429

A first-ball duck for Ravi Ashwin as Jack Leach is on a hat-trick with wicket-taking deliveries either side of tea.

He doesn't get the third but Leach will be happy enough.

It's not one Ashwin will want to see again as he attempts to defend but gets a thick edge that Devon Conway gratefully grasps in the slips.

  4. Play abandoned for day in Roses matchpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Lancashire 411-2 v Yorkshire

Play is abandoned for the day in the Roses match, despite two hours of glorious sunshine in Leeds since the mid-afternoon incident involving Dom Leech.

The 20-year-old Yorkshire fast bowler was taken off to hospital after slipping on a wet patch at the Rugby Stand End near the boundary edge before colliding with an advertising hoarding.

A nasty injury for the Middlesbrough-born former England Under-19s paceman.

And umpires Ian Gould and Nigel Llong have vowed not to allow any chance of a repeat.

Having lost an entire day's play on Monday, the two sides will resume tomorrow with Lancashire still well set on 411-2 - and Luke Wells (97) and Josh Bohannon (74) both eyeing centuries.

Having taken three batting points, while failing to allow Yorkshire a bowling point, if Lancashire bat on, a draw will be enough for the Red Rose to secure top spot on Group Three.

The Tykes could only get past them if they could get two more batting bonus points than Lancashire get for bowling points.

  5. Carlson and Cooke dominantpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 295-4 Northants 215

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan’s fifth-wicket pair of Kiran Carlson and Chris Cooke dominated the afternoon session as they put together a century stand to turn the screw against a depleted Northants attack.

After the earlier stand of 122 between Marnus Labuschagne and Billy Root, Carlson and Cooke also accelerated after a cautious start as they ran hard between the wickets while Carlson produced some glorious drives.

Carlson was dropped off a return chance to Rob Keogh in the only alarm of a session which produced 118 runs despite a rain break.

Northants, without the injured Gareth Berg for the match, are relying heavily on spinner Simon Kerrigan to get through plenty of overs, while Ben Sanderson has been their most accurate seamer despite Luke Procter taking three wickets.

  6. Leach catches the eye at The Ovalpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Somerset 429, Surrey 178-4

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset

Jack Leach hasn't had much bowling this season - just 130 overs in his six Championship games for Somerset.

So, with the Test series against India coming up, he will have been looking forward to:

    (a) a good long bowl

    (b) impressing Chris Silverwood.

In both, this afternoon, he has succeeded, picking up three good Surrey wickets for 33 runs in 22 overs of guile, variation.

Crucially for his England chances, 'The Nut' is in cracking form.

  7. Sussex's session again at Canterburypublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Sussex 181 & 147-0, Kent 165

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

An excellent session for Sussex who added 94 runs without losing a wicket.

Ali Orr added to his growing reputation, scoring his third County Championship half century in successive matches.

The depleted Kent attack have bowled tidily without taking a wicket.

The Sussex lead is now 163 with 40 overs left in the day.

  8. Tea at Canterburypublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Kent 165 v Sussex 181 & 147-0

Ali Orr (86no) and Tom Haines (52no) have put Sussex well on top in the game between Group Three's bottom two sides.

Their opening partnership stands at 147 and counting.

  9. wicket

    White c Barnes b Parkinson 34published at 16:09 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Middlesex 324 & 82-6, Leicestershire 228

Another wicket goes down at Merchant Taylor's School, but it's not the limping Steve Eskinazi.

It's Robbie White who goes for 30, a first victim for spinner Callum Parkinson.

At which point they have now taken tea.

Middlesex lead Leicestershire by 178 runs.

  10. Tea at Cardiffpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 295-4 v Northants 215

A brilliant 140 partnership between Kiran Carlson (78no) and Chris Cooke (61no) has put Glamorgan in full command of this Division Three affair.

They will be looking to establish a big lead and then have a full day trying to bowl Northants out. Luke Procter has taken three wickets for the visitors but it's been hard going for them at Sophia Gardens.

  11. Tea is taken at New Roadpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Bears 395, Pears 317-7

Worcestershire go to tea at New Road with Ed Barnard unbeaten on 40.

The Pears still trail Warwickshire by 78 runs, but have three wickets remaining.

Ish Sodhi is with Barnard on 8, having so far put on 23 with the Worcestershire and England Lions all-rounder.

  12. Tea at Cheltenhampublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 & 33-0 v Hants 486-7 dec

A pleasing hour there for Gloucestershire as openers Miles Hammond (13no) and George Scott (20no) see it out until tea.

Not a single extra conceded so far by the visitors' attack - in stark contrast to the 81 shipped by Gloucestershire when Hampshire were in.

An important evening session to come as the hosts trail by 24 in a game Hampshire must win to reach Division One - and a game Gloucestershire must not lose.

  13. wicket

Durham bowled out for 165 by Nottspublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Notts 328, Durham 165

Stuart Broad takes the final wicket of Chris Rushworth as Durham are bowled out for 165.

But Notts have decided not to enforce the follow-on.

The visitors will bat again with a lead of 163.

Tea will be taken first though,

  14. Tea at the Kia Oval - and a wicketpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Surrey 178-4 v Somerset 429

The final over before tea - and Jack Leach has a third victim.

Having already removed Mark Stoneman and Hashim Amla, the England spinner has Jamie Smith caught behind for 21.

A big blow for Surrey who had regrouped well.

  15. Leech off to hospital after freak injurypublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Lancashire 411-2 v Yorkshire

Yorkshire fast bowler Dom Leech has gone off to hospital after what BBC Radio Lancashire commentator Scott Read called that "very nasty looking injury" earlier.

Still no decision made as to when this game will restart.

But the suggestion is that they may not play again today, as the patch where Leech slipped may be considered unsafe by umpires Ian Gould and Nigel Llong.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Tom Hainespublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Kent 165 v Sussex 181 & 145-0

Sussex openers Ali Orr and Tom Haines might well pass their side's first-innings total on their own.

Haines follows Orr (85no) past the 50 mark and this is an excellent opening stand.

  17. wicket

    Salisbury c Hutton b Patterson-White 4published at 15:51 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Notts 328, Durham 150-9

Maximum bowling points for Notts as Durham lose a ninth wicket.

Matt Salisbury is the latest to go as spinner Liam Patterson-Whiter makes the breakthrough with his 14th Championship wicket of the season.

Last man Chris Rushworth comes out to join Matty Potts (21) still needing 29 to avoid the threat of being asked to follow on.

From 73-2 at lunch, Durham have lost seven wickets. Not a great afternoon session for the hosts.

  18. Eskinazi bats on in discomfortpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Middlesex 324 & 81-5, Leicestershire 228

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Steve Eskinazi, batting with a runner, has so far helped Robbie White put on 25 for the sixth wicket against Leicestershire at Merchant Taylors' School.

    They lead now by 176.

It's extraordinary as Middlesex have a crucial List A campaign coming up to save their season - and Eskinazi is in the form of his life in white-ball cricket in particular.

He's clearly in discomfort but Middlesex are obviously concerned about this match situation.

Defeat would be an eighth in 10 County Championship matches this season.

Eskinazi has so far managed just one scoring shot, off 25 balls, to give sound support to Robbie White, who is on 33.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Chris Cookepublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 280-4 v Northants 215

Captain Chris Cooke becomes the third Glamorgan batsman to pass 50 today, following Marnus Labuschagne and Kiran Carlson.

Cooke and Carlson up to 125 for their partnership.

It's been a day of toil for the Northants attack in Cardiff.

  20. Postpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 & 18-0 v Hants 486-7 dec

Some dark clouds overhead at Cheltenham.

That will be a concern for Hampshire, although the BBC Weather folk forecast only an 11% chance of rain in the area.

A lot of cricket left in this winner-take-all Group Two clash.
