  1. 100 runs

100 partnership for Glamorganpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 269-4 v Northants 215

Doesn't seem like that long since I wrote about the 50 stand between Kiran Carlson and Chris Cooke. Now it's 120.

They aren't hanging around. Carlson is now on 69no, Cooke 45no.

This game, of course, has lost a fair bit of time to rain so Glamorgan are pushing on in search of a big total that could lead them to victory.

  2. wicket

    Leach c Burgess b Yates 34published at 15:31 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Bears 395, Pears 294-7

Captain Joe Leach's little cameo for Worcestershire is over.

He hit seven fours in his 34, sharing a stand of 47 in 57 minutes with fellow former Shrewsbury School pupil Ed Barnard.

Spinner Rob Yates takes his second wicket of the innings. He has not been used much before by the Bears but he has now sent down 20 overs in this match, having taken 2-32 so far. Very tidy.

  3. wicket

    Burnham b Fletcher 23published at 15:26 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Notts 328, Durham 138-8

After putting on 22 with Matty Potts, Jack Burnham makes a poor decision to leave one from Luke Fletcher and has his stumps rearranged.

That is Fletcher's 47th scalp of the season.

He is the top wicket taker in the Championship this season - two better off than Chris Rushworth, who caught up a bit earlier by taken the last Notts wicket, his fourth of the innings.

  4. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 & 9-0 v Hants 486-7 dec

    A steady start for Gloucestershire.

Important they do not lose an early wicket before tea, you feel, still almost 250 behind.

  5. Roses match inspectionpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Lancashire 411-2 v Yorkshire

Repercussions now from the earlier alarming Dom Leech incident.

Yorkshire have now out out a statement to say: "‘Following another inspection, areas of the playing surface have been deemed unfit and unsafe.

    "A further inspection will follow."

Leech slipped on the outfield, was stretchered off and the players then got taken off.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Carlsonpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 244-4 v Northants 215

They're back out in Cardiff - and Kiran Carlson celebrates by reaching his half-century for the hosts.

  7. wicket

Mitchell lbw Mike 23published at 15:18 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Middlesex 324 & 55-5, Leicestershire 228

Daryl Mitchell is out for 23, leg before wicket to Ben Mike. And that triggers a surprise.

Steve Eskinazi is walking out to bat at number seven with a runner.

Having retired hurt in the first innings, the press corps at Merchant Taylors' School had earlier been told that he would not take any further part in the match.

Eskinazi joins Robbie White, who is on 18.

The Middlesex lead is only 153.

  8. 100 runs

100 partnership for Sussexpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Kent 165 v Sussex 181 & 111-0

Ali Orr and Tom Haines put on 50 for the opening wicket in Sussex's first innings - and they have gone doubly better this time.

Orr (65no) has hogged the strike somewhat, having faced 147 deliveries compared to 83 for Haines (40no).

  9. Yet to resume in Roses matchpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Lancashire 411-2 v Yorkshire

Still waiting for a further bulletin on Dom Leech.

Let's hope for better news about the young Yorkshire fast bowler.

  10. wicket

    Amla c&b Leach 16published at 15:09 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Surrey 145-3 v Somerset 429

Somerset celebrate Jack Leach's wicket.Image source, Getty Images

A second victim for Jack Leach and are Somerset starting to roll at the Kia Oval?

Hashim Amla battled for 16 off 67 balls - albeit nowhere near as long as he dug in against Hampshire for 37no off 278 balls last week.

But the South Africa batsman chips straight back to Leach and Surrey have lost their past two wickets for nine runs.

James McCaghrey: The Hampshire innings ends with 48 byes, the joint second most in a County Championship record. The most is just 49 by Middlesex in 1888. However the 48 byes is the most in an innings since 1978 when Karachi A conceded 50.

It's not been a good day for the Gloucestershire bowlers or wicketkeeper James Bracey.

  12. Declaration - Hampshire go in on 486-7published at 15:03 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 v Hants 486-7

That will be a relief to an absolutely exhausted Gloucestershire attack.

Nick Gubbins finishes unbeaten on 137 - a fantastic innings in only his second match for Hampshire, on loan from Middlesex.

The 174 opening partnership between Joe Weatherley and Ian Holland gave Hampshire a platform and Gubbins sure built on it.

Tough task now for Gloucestershire to regroup, 257 runs behind - they must avoid defeat to qualify for Division One. Lose, and that spot is Hampshire's. Big three hours or so ahead.

  13. Set fair at Merchant Taylors'published at 15:01 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Middlesex 324 & 46-4, Leicestershire 228

Daryl Mitchell and Robbie White are repairing the damage at Merchant Taylor School after that early afternoon carnage reduced Middlesex to 17-1.

That is effectively 17-5, as Steve Eskinazi, who retired hurt yesterday, will not bat in the second innings, having now been ruled out for the rest of the match.

Mitchell is on 20. White is on 16.

And the weather there looks rather nice.

  14. Postpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 236-4 v Northants 215

Glamorgan and Northants returned to the field for two balls before rain forced them off again.

Bet they wish they hadn't bothered!

Glamorgan did take a single off one of the deliveries, mind. Every run matters.

  15. wicket

    Stoneman c Davies b Leach 67published at 14:57 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Surrey 136-2 v Somerset 429

The end of a fine innings from Surrey's Mark Stoneman.

He's outdone by a lovely ball from Jack Leach.

Stoneman lingers a bit and waits for the umpire's decision but he knows he got a nick on that one.

David Smith: Should Lancashire declare now before Yorkshire get a bowling bonus point from that 3rd wicket? Lancs ahead in the league as it stands.

Stat Dan: Very strange situation - a Middlesex loss against Leics will give them more points for the next stage than a win (as they have a better record vs Surrey).

A lot of numbers to ponder at the moment...

  17. rain stops play

Rain stops play in Cardiffpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 235-4 v Northants 215

Glamorgan might have been eyeing victory at Sophia Gardens after overtaking Northants' first-innings total.

But the weather has thrown them a curveball in the form of our first rain delay of the day.

A shame for Kiran Carlson (47no) and skipper Chris Cooke (33no) who had built a nice partnership of 80.

  18. wicket

    Raine c James b Evison 12published at 14:51 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Notts 328, Durham 116-7

Durham are in serious danger of following on here.

Ben Raine, fresh from three fours, tries to hit another and holes out Lyndon James on the boundary rope.

It's a fifth wicket for Joey Evison- and his first 'five-fer'.

  19. wicket

    Barker c sub b Phillips 31published at 14:49 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 v Hants 458-7

A wicket for the occasional spin of Glenn Phillips, who was also successful yesterday.

    Finally some cheer for Gloucestershire.

Keith Barker is the man to go, just three runs short of a century partnership with Nick Gubbins as well.

But their stand ends on 97 as he tries to swipe Phillips but just skies it and substitute fielder Dom Goodman takes a diving catch.

  20. wicket

Rhodes strikes twice for Bearspublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Bears 395, Pears 269-6

Wickets in successive overs for Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes as he has Brett D'OIiveira caught behind for 18, before taking a caught-and-bowled chance off Ben Cox.

Pears skipper Joe Leach responds by plundering four boundaries on his arrival in the middle.
