  1. Sussex's morning at Canterburypublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Sussex 181 and 53-0, Kent 165

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good morning for Sussex who lead by 69 runs with all 10 second innings wickets in hand.

The Kent tail wagged, as the last 4 wickets added 95, with Hamidullah Qadri finishing on a first-class best 30 not out, and Jamie Atkins taking a Championship best 5-51.

This has always looked a good batting surface and Sussex will be looking to build a sizeable lead on an increasingly bright afternoon.

  2. Lancs on course for afternoon declaration?published at 13:26 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Lancashire 346-2 v Yorkshire

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

For an over or two Lancashire were having a little dart at getting up to 350 and an extra batting point.

Instead, they settled for three batting points and Yorkshire missing out on any bowling points.

The morning session, shortened to an hour and a half, worked out pretty well for the Red Rose as both not-out batsmen moved to half centuries.

Lancashire are likely to declare at some point this afternoon. I guess it's just a case of how many runs will captain Dane Vilas want on the board.

  3. Lunch at Merchant Taylors' Schoolpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Middlesex 324 & 6-1, Leicestershire 228

Great start for Leicestershire as Middlesex make a poor start to their second innings.

First-innings centurion Sam Robson edges Will Davis to Colin Ackermann off the last ball before lunch.

New man after the interval is due to be Steve Eskinazi, who retired hurt in the first innings.

  4. Lunch at the Kia Ovalpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Surrey 99-1 v Somerset 429

Rory Burns' lunch might not taste as good as it could have, the England opener departing for exactly 50 just before the interval.

But it's still been a solid response to Somerset's 429 from the hosts at the Kia Oval, with Mark Stoneman (42no) rapidly approaching his half-century too.

Somerset, though, have sealed qualification to Division One due to events elsewhere.

Could this be the year they finally lift the County Championship? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  5. Lunch at Sophia Gardenspublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 177-4 v Northants 215

A 122 stand between Marnus Labuschagne (77) and Billy Root (45) has given Glamorgan the edge over Northants in Group Two.

Both sides are playing for third place so there's not a lot at stake but it's been an entertaining watch nonetheless.

Aussie Labuschagne hit 12 fours before Luke Procter removed both he and Root in the space of three balls.

  6. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Bears 395, Pears 227-4

Brett D'Oliveira is on 9 and Ed Barnard on 8 as Worcestershire go to lunch at New Road still trailing Warwickshire by 168 runs.

  7. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Kent 165 v Sussex 181 & 53-0

Few alarms for Sussex openers Ali Orr (32no) and Tom Haines (16no) at Canterbury.

A solid start to the visitors' second innings.

They will be the happier of the two sides with the morning session's play on the third day after Sussex teenager Jamie Atkins earlier completed a five-fer to help wipe out the Kent tail.

  8. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Notts 328, Durham 73-2

Durham;s third-wicket pair Scott Borthwick (32) and David Bedingham (26) go to lunch on Wearside having so far shared a stand of 60.

It represents a good recovery after the shock of losing those two early wickets to Stuart Broad.

  9. 50 runs

Half-centuries for Wells & Bohannonpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Lancashire 346-2 v Yorkshire

An hour's play gone in Leeds in the Roses match, still no wicket - but two visiting half-centurions as Josh Bohannon follows Luke Wells to his 50.

But they're past the 110-over cut-off now, so no bowling points for the Tykes - and three batting points for Lancs.

Despite the loss of the first hour's play, lunch has still been taken on time.

  10. Lunch at Cheltenhampublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 v Hants 387-6

Nick Gubbins is tantalizingly within reach of his century at Cheltenham, the Hampshire newcomer on 97 at lunch.

His century stand with Lewis McManus, after the 174 opening partnership between Joe Weatherley and Ian Holland, have put Hampshire well on top.

Gloucestershire must avoid defeat to progress to Division One. Hampshire must win.

This one is bubbling up nicely.

  11. wicket

Burns c Leach b van der Merwe 50published at 13:09 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Surrey 98-1 v Somerset 429

Just as we were waxing lyrical about England opener Rory Burns, off he goes, just before lunch. Ain't it always the way?

It's a bit of a top-edger off Roelof van der Merwe from the Surrey skipper and Jack Leach is there to take it in at long leg.

  12. 50 runs

50 stand for Borthwick & Bedinghampublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Notts 328, Durham 68-2

Home skipper Scott Borthwick and David Bedingham have smoothed things over nicely following the early loss of openers Cameron Bancroft and Michael Jones.

They have so far put on 55 as they approach a slightly later lunch.

104 overs to be squeezed in today following yesterday's rain-off.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Rory Burnspublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Surrey 97-0 v Somerset 429

A 69th Surrey half-century for England opener Rory Burns, who continues to excel for county and country.

Six fours and a six in his unbeaten 50 against a Somerset side still celebrating their progression to the Division One final stages whatever happens at the Kia Oval.

  16. wicket

    McManus c Higgins b Scott 39published at 12:52 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 v Hants 361-6

A breakthrough for Gloucestershire, one that has taken nearly two hours to come this morning.

That's the end of Lewis McManus' excellent 129-run partnership with Nick Gubbins.

McManus tries to drive Ryan Higgins to cover but George Scott's on hand to take a routine catch.

The visitors still very much on top though.

  17. wicket

Mitchell lbw Norwell 113published at 12:50 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Bears 395, Pears 214-4

After four hours and 40 minutes of crease occupation, Daryl Mitchell has gone for 113.

He is the second LBW victim of the innings for Liam Norwell, who also got Mitchell's opening partner Jake Libby the same way yesterday afternoon.

New man is Ed Barnard, to join Brett D'Oliveira.

  18. wicket

Two wickets in three balls for Procterpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Northants 215 v Glamorgan 155-4

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

A century stand between Marnus Labuschagne and Billy Root put Glamorgan on the front foot against a depleted Northants attack before Labuschagne was bowled for 77, leaving a ball from Luke Procter, and Root fell for 45 playing on to Procter.

Labuschagne started scratchily and was nearly bowled early on leaving one from Procter that jagged back, but he gradually moved up the gears with some sumptuous drives while Root also found the gaps.

Labuschagne’s dismissal came out of the blue after a stand of 122 runs at four an over, as Northants hauled the game back out of the home side’s grip.

Gareth Berg is out of the game and probably the next month’s action because of an ankle injury suffered in a warm-up before he’d taken any active part in the match. With only three seamers to choose from, spinner Simon Kerrigan started what looked like a long spell.

They are 33 without loss after 10 overs, with Ali Orr leading the way on 21 not out.
