  1. wicket

    Ackermann b Bamber 82published at 12:40 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Middlesex 324, Leicestershire 216-9

Leicestershire skipper Colin Ackermann is the latest to be out at Merchant Taylor's School.

His innings of 82 was his fourth first-class half-century of the season.

He is the second victim of the innings for home paceman Ethan Bamber.

  2. wicket

    Barnes c White b J Harris 4published at 12:32 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Middlesex 324, Leicestershire 216-8

Ed Barnes is gone at Merchant Taylor's, edging James Harris - and it's a fourth victim (and a third catch of the morning) for Middlesex wicketkeeper Robbie White.

  3. 50 runs

50 for Labuschagne - and 100 partnershippublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 141-2 v Northants 215

A 12th half-century in 17 Glamorgan matches for Marnus Labuschagne.

The Aussie was averaging 55 before this game and continues to show his class.

A couple of minutes later and the century partnership with Billy Root is up too - Glamorgan well in control in Cardiff against Northants.

  4. 100 runs

100 partnership for Hampshirepublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 v Hants 335-5

Hampshire had lost five wickets for 58 runs when Lewis McManus joined Nick Gubbins at the crease on Monday evening.

The pair have responded with Hampshire's second century stand of the innings after openers Joe Weatherley and Ian Holland put on a mammoth 174.

The lead is 106. With five wickets remaining, Hampshire might be beginning to ponder when to declare. If they get a lead of 250 perhaps? Or do you just get as many as you can and trust your bowlers?

They have to leave themselves enough time to bowl Gloucestershire out, remember - and to maybe bat again.

  5. wicket

    Haynes c Miles b Lamb 65published at 12:19 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Bears 395, Pears 203-3

Jack Haynes curses himself as he gets a leading edge to a ball from Matt Lamb - doing makeshift service as a spinner - and spoons one up to extra cover.

It's the last delivery before the new ball is due. And indeed it is taken with the very next ball.

Haynes was run out backing up for 87 in the first Midlands derby this summer at Edgbaston. A second great chance is gone to get his maiden century in this fixture.

Haynes - son of former Worcestershire all-rounder Gavin Haynes - also got 51 when the Pears and Bears met in the Bob Willis Trophy last August so he at least has a record of 'Three games v Warwickshire: Three fifties'.

    One to be proud of.

  6. 200 runs

200 up for Pears at New Roadpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Bears 395, Pears 201-2

It's taken a long time for Worcestershire to claim their first batting bonus point - in the over before the new ball is due, but they're there now.

Centurion Daryl Mitchell and Jack Haynes have so far put on 128.

  7. Somerset qualify for Division Onepublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 13 July 2021
    Breaking

    Surrey 66-0 v Somerset 429

Hampshire's failure to pick up a fourth batting point within 110 overs at Cheltenham means Group Two leaders Somerset will definitely progress to Division One.

And they've done it despite an eight-point deduction imposed for a poorly prepared pitch for their County Championship decider against Essex in 2019.

Who will join them from Group Two, readers? Thumbs up for Hampshire and thumbs down for Gloucestershire.

We're managing four apiece on the live text, Liz!

  9. 50 runs

50 for Nick Gubbinspublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 v Hants 322-5

    Gloucestershire will be getting concerned.

Hampshire are building a sizable lead - and Nick Gubbins has passed his half-century with a boundary off Matt Taylor.

It's his maiden half-century for the county after joining from Middlesex earlier this month.

He's not messing around either - a couple more quickfire boundaries and he's moved on to 60 within a couple of minutes.

Gubbins' partnership with Lewis McManus (27no) is now up to 90.

  10. wicket

Jones lbw Broad 5published at 11:59 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Notts 328, Durham 13-2

Durham's bad start gets worse as Michael Jones goes the same way as opening partner Cameron Bancroft.

Just like Bancroft before him in the first over, Jones has also been adjudged leg before wicket to Stuart Broad.

The hosts' pursuit of maximum batting points facing Broad and Luke Fletcher under the lights on a cloudy morning in County Durham suddenly looks a long way off.

A lot rests on the shoulders of the country's top run scorer David Bedingham, who has come in to join Durham captain Scott Borthwick.

  11. wicket

Kent bowled out for 165published at 11:56 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Kent 165 v Sussex 181

Debutant Jas Singh took four wickets with the ball for Kent but there's no heroics from the tail-ender with the bat.

He's out for two, lbw to Sean Hunt and that means Sussex have a first-innings lead of 16.

Hamidullah Qadri is stranded on 30no, while Harry Podmore (37) top-scored in a creditable effort from the Covid-hit makeshift Kent side.

No batting bonus points for either side but a second first-class five-fer in only four appearances for Sussex bowler Jamie Atkins who finishes with 5-51.

  12. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glos 229 v Hants 306-5

Nick Gubbins is nearing his half-century for Hampshire and their lead is now approaching 80.

Worth noting that 50 of the visitors' runs have come via extras - will the Gloucestershire attack rue that inaccuracy?

By comparison, Hampshire conceded only nine extras in the hosts' 229.

  13. wicket

    Parkinson c White b Mitchell 1published at 11:53 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Middlesex 324, Leicestershire 197-7

A second wicket in successive overs for the other Daryl Mitchell, the New Zealand all-rounder.

Callum Parkinson is also caught behind by wicketkeeper Robbie White.

It's a third successful pouch of the innings at Merchant Taylors' for John Simpson's stand-in, an old Harrovian.

Ed Barnes is the Foxes' new man in, to join skipper Colin Ackermann, who has moved on to 78.

  14. 100 runs

Century for Daryl Mitchellpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Bears 395, Pears 184-2

Worcestershire opener Daryl Mitchell completes the 39th first-class century of his fine career.

It's his first ton of the summer - and a timely one too, after a run of low scores.

He had managed just 18 runs in his previous five County Championship innings going into this game.

It's only this big Aston Villa fan's second hundred in a Pears-Bears derby, having got his first only last summer when they met in the Bob Willis Trophy.

  15. wicket

    Quinn c Carter b Robinson 11published at 11:46 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Kent 162-9 v Sussex 181

Ah, jinxed Kent a bit there by saying they might lead after the first innings. Sorry.

Matt Quinn contributed a handy 11 but a bit of a tail-ender shot there as he launches an Ollie Robinson high but not far and wicketkeeper Oli Carter takes the catch.

  16. wicket

    Mike c White b Mitchell 10published at 11:46 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Middlesex 324, Leicestershire 195-6

    It's another Daryl Mitchell morning.

While the Worcestershire version is raising his bat for a ton at Worcester, the Middlesex one takes his the first wicket of the day 100 milers away to the south in Northwood.

He has Ben Mike caught behind for 10.

Skipper Colin Ackermann is still there on 76.

  17. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Surrey 50-0 v Somerset 429

Somerset only need one bowling point to seal Division One qualification but Surrey are not giving it up easily.

England opener Rory Burns (29no) and Mark Stoneman (19no) are going along serenely so far.

  18. 150 runs

150 up for Kentpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Kent 160-8 v Sussex 181

Worth a reminder what Kent have been up against this week.

Virtually their whole first-team squad had to isolate after a positive Covid test following Friday's T20 Blast win.

Then another player, Nathan Gilchrist, got pinged by Track and Trace for a separate close contact case.

Yet their youthful second string has still been competitive against Sussex and could even establish a first-innings lead - off-spinner Hamidullah Qadri is unbeaten on 29, comfortably his best first-class score.

  19. 50 runs

50 partnership for Glamorganpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Glamorgan 84-2 v Northants 215

A nice start to the day for Glamorgan as Marnus Labuschagne and Billy Root complete a half-century third-wicket partnership.

It comes via a classy cover drive from Root. Love how he almost runs two before Labuschagne runs one - the Aussie clearly never in doubt that it's reaching the ropes.

  20. wicket

Bancroft lbw Broad 0published at 11:31 British Summer Time 13 July 2021

    Notts 328, Durham 0-1

Bad start for Durham. Cameron Bancroft gone third ball.

England paceman Stuart Broad is the man who strikes the early blow at Chester-le-Street, trapping the Australian in front.

Dissension in the ranks in the BBC commentary box as to whether it was actually 'plumb' or not.

Skipper Scott Borthwick is the new man in, to join Michael Jones.
