    Dawson c Duckett b Paterson 31 (Hampshire 154-6 v Notts)

There's Nottinghamshire's second bowling point as Dane Paterson finds the edge and Ben Duckett makes no mistake at second slip.

The South African pace bowler has made a habit this season of picking up wickets when Notts really need them, and that's his 400th in first-class cricket.

Is he going to finish the summer with a Championship winners' medal? Too early to say, but they've certainly got a great chance.

  3. Middlesex batting 'massive' disappointmentpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 12 September 2021

    D3: Middlesex 144 v Worcestershire - tea

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

Middlesex will be massively disappointed with their batting performance albeit on a green top in September.

Worcestershire persevered with nagging lines and lengths throughout the innings but on a couple of occasions the hosts looked as though they might settle into a recovery.

But as wickets tumbled around Max Holden, the only batsman to go past 20, then the innings collapsed to swift end.

With 45 overs left on day one, Worcestershire themselves must be wary of the seaming surface and a strong host attack.

  4. Durham clean up Northants tailpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 12 September 2021

    D2: Northamptonshire 183 v Durham - tea

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle commentator

Matty Potts achieved a double-wicket maiden to help end the Northants innings as he bowled Simon Kerrigan for one in the 55th over and then had Ben Sanderson lbw for a third-ball duck.

Kerrigan left a ball which came back in and trimmed his bails. It was a bad leave. Potts ended up with 4-42, his second-best figures in FC cricket.

Luke Procter and James Sales had been offering quite a bit of resistance after lunch. Their partnership of 66 for the seventh wicket ended when Procter was bowled by spinner Liam Trevaskis on 76.

Sales finished on 38* as wickets fell at the other end.as Northants slipped from 173-7 to 183 all out in the space of four overs.

    Surrey v Essex 202-2

Seasons come, seasons go, but some things never change - like the enduring quality of former England captain Alastair Cook.

He reaches a 183-ball century by pulling a short ball from Jordan Clark away for a single.

It's his second Championship century of the season and has featured 16 fours. Dan Lawrence is 27 not out at the other end.
