  1. Declarationpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367 & 294-3 dec v Somerset 389

Warwickshire smash 18 runs off a Josh Davey over and captain Will Rhodes decides that's enough.

They have grabbed 115 runs in 15 overs this morning to extend their lead to 272 runs.

Somerset's target is 273 off 79 overs. The required run-rate is 3.45 so Rhodes has certainly dangled a carrot in their direction.

  2. 'Give it some welly'published at 11:30 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367 & 276-3 v Somerset 389

Somerset may have lost all three of their games in this final stage of the County Championship, but they are not without their own support today, with the Wurzels urging their players to 'Give it some West Country Welly'!

Warwickshire lead by 254 and there are 82 overs left in the day.

    WICKET Stevens c Robson b Roland-Jones 14published at 11:30 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    Kent 138 & 310-7 v Middlesex 147 & 363

Well, well - some drama in Division Three!

Darren Stevens only survives a couple more balls after being handed a lifeline.

Sam Robson redeems himself in the slip cordon holding on to the next chance Stevens offers off Toby Roland-Jones.

Kent need 63 to win - Middlesex need three more wickets.

  4. Interesting crescendo at Canterburypublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    D3: Kent (138 & 309-6) need 64 more runs to beat Middlesex (147 & 363)

All bubbling up nicely to a thrilling fourth-innings run-chase at Canterbury.

The winner between Kent and Middlesex will win Division Three.

Kent have four wickets in hand and need 64 more runs to chase down a target of 373.

Veterans Darren Stevens and Tim Murtagh doing battle with bat and ball for their respective sides.

And Stevens has just been dropped at second slip by Sam Robson off Murtagh and that denied Murtagh his 900th first-class wicket!

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Rob Yates clearly loves batting at Edgbaston.

That's his fifth first-class hundred. And all five of them have been here in Birmingham.

His fourth this summer at Edgbaston, in fact, in just seven home County Championship games.

And, weighing in at 149 balls, this was comfortably his quickest too! All his previous ones have taken over 200 deliveries.

But will he have one up his sleeve for his first visit to Lord's next week?

  9. Ten overs gonepublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

Ten overs this morning and Warwickshire have amassed 66 runs in that time.

Their lead is up to 223 and we have 86 overs left today. The Bears may fancy the same again off the next ten.

A deserved century for Rob Yates as he turns one down to deep backward square for four.

It's his fourth Championship ton of the season and he has played this at a good tempo, coming off 149 balls.

    Now for all-out attack mode.

Right - we're almost at the final act of this season and we're giving you a chance to select your team of the season through the BBC Sport website and app.

Head here to cast your eyes over the contenders and their vital statistics (figures correct at the start of this round of fixtures).

If you need some inspiration or something to disagree with - here was my attempt earlier this week, although my disclaimer is I have picked about three other XIs such is the strength of the options!

Sam Hain does not last long.

Jack Brooks, showing admirable effort on the last day of his season, gets one to move in and pin Hain plumb in front.

The hint of movement may keep Chris Woakes, Tim Bresnan and Co. interested for later in the day.

  14. Notts closing inpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire (296 & 71-1) need 103 more runs to beat Yorkshire (73 & 396)

No wickets at Trent Bridge so far this morning.

Nottinghamshire are closing in on victory over Yorkshire that would take them second as it stands.

Ben Slater (35 not out) and Ben Duckett (31 not out) continuing their second-wicket partnership worth 62 now.

WICKET Rhodes run out (Overton) 62published at 10:58 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367 & 226-2 v Somerset 389

A bit of a mix-up sees Will Rhodes run out.

Rob Yates pushes one out into the offside and gets an easy single. Rhodes wants two but is sent back and Overton, who had chased the ball off his own bowling, throws to Steven Davies, who does the rest.

62 off 44 for the Bears captain, who has really set up this innings.

Sam Hain comes out at number four.

  16. Keeping in touch from the allotmentpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367 & 224-1 v Somerset 389

Kath has sent us a tweet of her allotment as she keeps in touch with the cricket today. It must be close to harvest time for any fruit and vegetables that have been grown over the summer. In tribute to Sir Geoffrey Boycott, we had some lovely rhubarb from our garden - great in a crumble!

I was told that a Lancashire fan, following our updates from Spain yesterday, was so nervous at the end that he did not dare refresh his feed in case they had lost!

45 runs from six overs this morning for Warwickshire.

And another ton up at The Oval - for Hashim Amla this time and not for the first time his glittering career of course.

Three runs pushed through the offside get him there off 190 balls.

It's included 10 fours as well.

  18. Concern for Lancashirepublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367 & 200-1 v Somerset 389

The fact that Warwickshire have quickly got up to 200 is not that unexpected, but the sight of Somerset's Pakistan batter Azhar Ali limping off the field after a couple of minutes being sat on the outfield will concern Lancashire fans.

If Warwickshire are to be denied, a class player like Azhar would be top of the list to keep them out.

A T20-style ramp shot from Will Rhodes down to fine leg brings him four runs as he races to 50 in double-quick time.

Just 34 balls with three fours and three sixes as the Bears captain motors along.
