    Lancashire 78 & 152-4 v Warwickshire 518

A fine session for Warwickshire. The runs conceded are irrelevant, but the three wickets garnered this afternoon are all that matters.

Six more wickets needed to wrap up a deserved innings win for the Bears.

Lancashire were doing OK when Luke Wells and George Balderson were batting, but the cause is almost impossible.

As well as the cricket continuing on the pitch here today at Lord's, there's also been a bit of a ceremony off it.

Outgoing MCC chairman Gerald Corbett and imminent president Clare Connor were on hand earlier to unveil the plaque for the impressive new Edrich Stand.

That along with the new Compton Stand were officially opened earlier this season to complete the second phase of the ground's redevelopment that have increased its capacity to 31,180.

With the light on full blast and two relatively new batters at the crease, there is a great time to bowl.

Craig Miles gets one to jag back sharply and hit Steven Croft right in the stomach. Ouch! Not pleasant on a cold day.

Rob Yates is thrown the bowl for a few off-breaks before tea. Does he have a golden arm?

Liam Norwell's double breakthrough of Josh Bohannon and now George Balderson has really opened the door for Warwickshire.

Not for the win, that has not felt in doubt since Lancashire were 12-6, but for victory today.

Six more wickets needed and a potential 45 overs left in the day.

Steven Croft has now joined his captain Dane Vilas at the crease.

George Balderson's hopes of a career best score are flattened.

Liam Norwell produces a beauty from round the wicket to the left-hander, which takes out his off-stump.

Balderson has batted nicely for 65, but he's got to go.

  19. Effects of a long seasonpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 & 133-3 v Warwickshire 518

The dismissal of Josh Bohannon has brought Lancashire captain Dane Vilas to the crease.

The South Africa batter gets off a pair with a three off his first ball, but he doesn't look the sprightliest at the crease.

Vilas leads from the front with this team, especially last week in the win over Hampshire, and it would not be unusual for him to be suffering the effects of a long season.
