  1. Brotherly encouragement spurred Parkinsonpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

As we mentioned earlier, Matt Parkinson reached the landmark of 100 first-class wickets yesterday.

His twin Callum, who plays for Leicestershire, turned out to be the man who helped get him across the line with some brotherly advice.

  2. Good first impressionpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 510-9

Matt Parkinson is thrown the ball after reaching 100 first-class wickets yesterday.

Manraj Johal isn't fazed as he whacks the leg-spinner away for four. Late-order runs to go with three first innings wickets, Johal is making a very good first impression.

  3. Annoyance factorpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 506-9

This last wicket pair have quickly racked up 19 runs in four overs.

A couple of good shots, a few injudicious ones and a bit of sloppy fielding and the total has tootled along. All very annoying for a bowling side.

BBC CWR Sport on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

This is some total bearing in mind Warwickshire didn't manage to score 400 in any innings in the County Championship this season.

  5. 500 uppublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 503-9

Manraj Johal gets a second four from an inside edge. More in keeping with a number 11.

The a nice clips off his pads to deep backward square brings up 500 for Warwickshire.

Joy for the Bears, agony for Lancashire.

  6. First runs for Johalpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 492-9

Number 11 Manraj Johal gets his first first-class runs with a tickle down to fine leg for four. Then a textbook forward defensive from the 19-year-old.

He doesn't appear in the mood to throw his wicket away.

I did think Warwickshire might declare when Will Rhodes was out.

But it won't be needed as it looks like this innings will follow its natural course.

Lancashire are going need to get 800 in their second innings!

    Bowled him!!!

Jack Blatherwick is enjoying his morning as he sends one crashing into Liam Norwell's stumps.

The classic case with a tailender of 'You miss, I hit'.

Three wickets now for Blatherwick in this innings - all bowled. Lovely jubbly!

Former England batter on BBC 5 live sports extra

    Warwickshire's lead now over 400.

It's still not enough, Will Rhodes wants plenty more and he clearly wants to enjoy as many Lord's lunches as possible over the next three days.

  10. Lead past 400published at 11:01 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 481-8

Too straight from Tom Bailey and Craig Miles says thank you very much for four over a vacant mid-wicket.

Another boundary from Miles is enough to take Warwickshire's lead past 400.

  11. Postpublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Ian Bell
Former England batter on BBC 5 live sports extra

The delivery to get rid of Sam Hain was terrific yesterday and that one was right up there.

It's real high-class bowling from Jack Blatherwick.

It's clearly still doing a bit and that's the end of a brilliant innings from Will Rhodes, probably his best of the season.

  12. Bears becalmedpublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 472-8

Warwickshire have done everything right in this match, but their approach this morning has been strange.

Eight runs off six overs is neither here nor there. Surely a quick thrash would be a better tactic, although that might happen now Will Rhodes is out.

Will Rhodes' superb innings is over. A beauty from Jack Blatherwick coming down the slope removes the off bail.

Rhodes can't be too upset, though. 291 balls and 18 fours - that was some knock from the Warwickshire captain.

A hint of life in the pitch, which the Bears' bowlers will have noted.

  14. No stand-out performerpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 469-7

Do you need stellar individuals or a team of everybody chipping in to be a successful cricket team?

Warwickshire have shown the latter. No batter reached 1000 Championship runs and no bowler got to 50 wickets. Instead everyone made valuable contributions.

But they've got what players from every other county want - Championship winner's medals.

  15. Postpublished at 10:47 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Ian Bell
Former England batter on BBC 5 live sports extra

Not much intent shown yet by Warwickshire.

I thought we might see them up the rate this morning, but perhaps they feel they don't have enough runs yet.

  16. A long day in theorypublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 466-7

Again we are scheduled for 104 overs of cricket today, with a finish time of 6pm.

With some inclement weather forecast for the afternoon, it's unlikely we will see that much cricket.

But time is definitely on Warwickshire's side as Will Rhodes takes a second single of the morning.

  18. Test of characterpublished at 10:35 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 465-7

It's 30 September, we are at the end of a long summer and your team are nearly 400 runs behind with the first innings still going.

This is a real test of character for the Lancashire bowlers this morning. They will have to dig deep for the last time for a few months.

Tom Bailey concedes one off his first over. Jack Blatherwick to share the opening duties.

  19. Postpublished at 10:32 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

You feel like it could do a little bit more for the bowlers today with overcast conditions and the lights on.
