    More good news from Lord's.

Despite the floodlights being on, they've just rung the five-minute bell and the hover cover has been hauled off the outfield.

Warwickshire set to carry on building their mammoth lead though for the time being as Lancashire's players go through their final warm-ups on the boundary rope.

Lancashire director of cricket Paul Allott is confident he is leaving the club in a position of strength when he steps down from the job following the Bob Willis Trophy final.

The former England seam bowler, who played 472 games for the county in all competitions, has held the role since 2017.

"I suppose my biggest regret is not having won a major trophy. We've been so close in T20, we've been very close this year in the County Championship," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I think if you look at it overall, we're in a pretty strong place, from a progressive point of view, from an age group point of view, from an academy viewpoint, and also professionally."

Lancashire spin bowler Matt Parkinson had the consolation of reaching a century of first-class wickets as Warwickshire built a commanding lead on day two of the Bob Willis Trophy final.

Parkinson sent down 30 overs for figures of 3-71, having begun the game two short of the milestone.

"I thought I might just fall short. My brother (Callum) got to a hundred a couple of weeks ago and he texted me and said 'you do not want to be stranded on 98' so to get to a hundred was pleasing," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"We've had fairly similar seasons. He's done very well for Leicester and for him to be on, I think it's 103, and me on 101, I'm going to try and chase him tomorrow."

Warwickshire skipper Will Rhodes was delighted to see his team "put on a show" with the bat as they continued to dominate Lancashire on day two.

Rhodes was 151 not out at the close and with three days left in the game, has the option of trying to push on towards 200 or declaring.

"It was quite well documented we didn’t get 400 throughout the season and we came here to Lord’s and wanted to put that right," he said.

"It’s been unbelievable. If you could write two days on a script and how you want them to go that would be pretty close to it. We’re best part of 400 runs ahead, three days to go so I’m a very happy captain."

  6. Weather watchpublished at 10:20 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

We were treated to some early autumnal sunshine during play on Wednesday but it's looking like a very different prospect today.

We've started the morning with some grey skies, light drizzle and chilly winds and as Elizabeth Rizzini from the BBC London Weather Centre can tell us, expect a couple more showers to breeze through.

Warwickshire (464-7) lead Lancashire (78) by 386 runs

Thankfully since that picture was taken a bit earlier, the covers have been removed from the outfield and the light shower that blew through around 8:30 BST appears to have passed.

Skies are also a bit brighter as well.

Good morning from Lord's for the third day of this Bob Willis Trophy final between Warwickshire and Lancashire.

The Bears well and truly have a stranglehold over the Red Rose and a commanding first-innings lead to go with it after their dominant first morning with the ball.

But as the picture above will tell you, we could be in for a severely-disrupted day today with showers and grey skies forecast.

Will we see a declaration from Warwickshire with more unsettled weather forecast for the remainder of this fixture?

Stick with us to find out as we (hopefully) bring you all the action on this third day.
