Neil Wagner follows up that monster six with a delicate little push that confounds everyone and runs away for three.
He's so much fun.

I don't think Stuart Broad will like that very much. The number 11 has launched him over long-off for six. What a fine shot.
Neil Wagner!!
The number 11 drops his back knee and absolutely launches Stuart Broad over long-off for a big one. Amazing.

It is 69 overs since Stuart Broad took a Test wicket, having taken 32 in five and a half Tests before that.
Stuart Broad is coming on.
Wagner 6, Conway 186
Last batter Neil Wagner sends a thumping drive off the back foot and into the boundary rope for four. What a shot that is!
Anderson immediately follows it with a lovely delivery that has Wagner in knots.

From the position England were in at the start of today they have done tremendously well. Sibley and Burns might have been thinking they'd have an awkward 12 overs tonight. Now they should have the whole day to bat.
That's 994 first-class wickets for James Anderson, by the way...

It seems like the pitch has just zipped a little bit quicker today.
Southee c Bracey b Anderson 8 (NZ 338-9)
A first catch in Test cricket for James Bracey!
A classic Anderson dismissal, maybe a touch quicker, and all Southee can do is outside edge it through to Bracey. This has been poor from New Zealand.
We've had to rebowl the final ball of Ollie Robinson's over.
Tim Southee hits it back at him, Robinson flings it back at the stumps for no real reason, and Southee promptly jogs through for an overthrow. Hmm.

John Petrie: New Zealand will be disappointed if they do not post 400 in this innings. One of the inexperienced England batsmen has a real opportunity to make a mark here.
Conway 186, Southee 7
Belter from Ollie Robinson, getting a delivery to snare away from Tim Southee's outside edge. Another good over from Robinson, who is searching for a five-for.

At lunch I got my first close-up view of the new England training gear as Olly Stone, Craig Overton and Haseeb Hameed were in the nets on the Nursery Ground. The shorts are quite snug and have some retro flashes in the design. The are very Italia 90.
I was just thinking about the time when Stuart Broad dropped a catch off Jimmy Anderson last summer and then ran the batsman out at the non striker's end. One of the great moments.
Anderson spears four leg byes just beyond Devon Conway's pads.
Broad is now trying to get the ball changed. Presumably for one that he can catch.
Oh, to be fair to him, the ball has been knocked out of shape. Out comes a new one.
Now this is how you take a catch...
Jimmy Anderson then makes his bowling mate look a bit stupid as he pulls off a terrific, sprawling dive at mid-on to stop a smashing Devon Conway drive reaching the boundary.
Robinson ends a frustrating over with a bouncer at Tim Southee.

That is a poor drop. Broad made the ground and good two hands to it.
